It's become this common belief that many developers and publishers are attempting to avoid the release of GTA 6 (which is now set for May of 2026), but most of them don't really come out and say it for whatever reason.
That's not the case with Suda 51 of Grasshopper Manufacture though, who told IGN recently that Romeo is a Dead Man - announced yesterday at the June 2025 State of Play - is specifically trying to avoid "that one game" with its release.
Here's what the founder and CEO of the company had to say about this to the outlet:
"That One Game had its release date announced, right? Every publisher wants to make sure to steer clear of That One Game’s release date. But what if we were to flex a little and release it on the same day... Yeah, nope — just thinking about that is way too scary. Alright then, see you later."
Romeo is a Dead Man is currently set for release at some point in 2026, and it would seem Suda 51 doesn't believe GTA 6's May date is 100% guaranteed. Even despite the recent delay, there's every chance it could get delayed again!
As for the game itself, it's described as featuring "super bloody action, crazy twists and turns to blow players’ minds", developed by the studio behind No More Heroes 3, Lollipop Chainsaw, Shadows of the Damned and much more.
We'll throw more details about Romeo is a Dead Man down below.
Super bloody action, crazy twists and turns to blow players’ minds, and a whole mess of kinda-stereotypical gimmicks – all rolled into one wild ride. Our hero Romeo Stargazer is a man stuck between life and death. His own was saved mere seconds before the end by way of a time paradox that shattered the space-time continuum, which was created by a genius scientist screwing around. Now, Romeo is FBI Space-Time special agent “Dead Man”, and sporting a rad mask called Dead Gear, must hunt space-time’s most wanted fugitives through multiple universes!
