SpecialEffect, the UK charity, has today listed a rather interesting bit of Xbox history via the online auction platform Bring a Trailer. Yep, a very rare Ford GT vehicle is up for grabs over there - with links to Microsoft, Turn 10 Studios, and Xbox's famous Forza series.
Basically, this particular GT model was previously owned by Alan Hartman - who ran both Turn 10 and the whole Xbox Game Studios department at different times during his career at Microsoft. Hartman is now an honorary Vice President of SpecialEffect, and has donated the car after seeing the impact that the charity can have on people's lives.
"I’ve seen first-hand the incredible work that SpecialEffect does, and I’m honoured to be able to contribute in this way,
They not only bring joy to so many, but they provide a north star for the entire gaming industry as we strive to create a level playing field for every gamer. It is a privilege to support them and I hope this auction encourages others to get involved and help support this amazing charity."
The vehicle has spent some time at Xbox Game Studios HQ too, which is pretty neat - it was displayed in the lobby area over at Turn 10 Studios for a number of years. Of course, that era of Ford GT also graced the cover over Forza Motorsport 6 - Microsoft's 2015 entry in the franchise.
As for the auction itself, the 2017 Ford GT is live right now and has a cool current bid of $600,000 - at the time of writing anyway; we're expecting that to increase substantially before the bidding closes in just over a week. If you have the money and an appetite to own a piece of Forza history, then have at it!
