We are big fans of 8Bitdo's various controllers and accessories for Xbox consoles here at PX HQ, and they've just gone and released another one!
Yep, the peripheral wizards have just issued details of their upcoming, and very swish-looking, 8BitDo Arcade Controller for Xbox. With a 'paper thin' design, according to the official press release, this funky-looking all-button arcade controller also boasts:
- All-button arcade controller design
- 2.4G wireless and wired connection on Xbox and Windows
- 2 programmable buttons with fast-mapping
- Independent control panel
- RGB lighting
- Kailh Wizard low-profile mechanical switches
- Hot-swappable PCB
- 3.5mm audio jack and volume control
- Support SOCD cleaning and tournament lock
- 8BitDo Ultimate Software support
The controller, which has also been announced in other versions across Nintendo Switch and PC, comes in priced at MSRP $99.99, and this Xbox-themed variant supports Xbox One, alongside Series X|S and Windows PC.
Now, we (or I should say, this writer), have yet to use an all-button pad, but it's something that's been on our radar for sure, as more and more pro fight fans seem to be turning to them as an alternative to the old stick method. It's certainly past time to investigate, at the very least.
In this vein, we'll be going hands on to educate ourselves fully with this one in a short while, so make sure to check in for a full review of the controller down the road a little. Meanwhile, here's some more hot deets from that official 8BitDo press release and some nice pictures to look at.
The 8BitDo Arcade Controller for Xbox releases on July 15th.
"Built for professionals. Unmatched accuracy and ultra-fast inputs with an all-button arcade design and precise quad-movement layout. Execute combos with greater speed and precision than ever before. Nearly the same size as an A4 sheet of paper, and as thin as 1.6 cm. Fight anytime, anywhere."
