Baldur's Gate 3 Mods Are Officially Heading To Xbox Series X|S

As if Baldur's Gate 3 wasn't already good enough, Larian Studios has announced today that the game will be getting official mods on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (as well as PlayStation 5 and PC) in the relatively near future.

Over the next few months, Larian will be preparing the public release of a "Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit" to develop mods on PC, some of which will then be made available on console. Here's how the team describes the console integration:

"Releasing first on PC, we expect to roll out the support to the wider community and various platforms shortly after - including for Mac players, as well as PlayStation and Xbox consoles."

"Limitations in place on some platforms mean that while you will be able to browse, install, and use player-created mods, the official modding tools themselves will not be available to those playing on console. PC players will have access to the Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit to create their own mods, and an internal curation process will determine which of these mods become available for those on console."

The developer says that guidelines will be published for modders so they can understand what kind of BG3 mods will be allowed for consoles as well as PC, although there's no word on what the guidelines will contain as of yet.

It sounds like September is the goal for a public rollout of mods on PC, so hopefully Xbox will follow before the end of the year. There's also plenty of other Baldur's Gate 3 goodness to come on Xbox as part of the next major patch, including crossplay support and a photo mode. This is the game that just keeps on giving!
