Ori Developer's Next Game Will Attempt To 'Revolutionise' The ARPG Genre

Moon Studios creative director Thomas Mahler has speaking a bit about the plans for the Ori studio's next game on Twitter today, revealing that it will take the form of a "top-down" ARPG with major aspirations.

In his message, Mahler explained that the game will serve as a "make-or-break moment" for the development team, with the hope that it'll be able to "revolutionize the ARPG genre" and stand alongside the likes of Diablo.

"Our next project is going to be a make-or-break moment for Moon: Either we manage to revolutionize the ARPG genre or we'll slowly fade away into the distance."

"While that should be scary, I LOVE the challenge! Diablo, PoE, etc.: We're coming for you, may the best one win!"

The announcement for this game came all the way back in June of 2020, with Moon Studios signing up alongside publisher Private Division to make the new action RPG title. Microsoft isn't involved this time around, despite publishing Ori and the Blind Forest along with Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

We haven't seen any footage of this new Moon Studios project yet, so it's best not to expect a release date for quite some time. Still, based on the immense success of the Ori series, we're hoping for big things when it finally arrives.
