Dying Light 2 Is Getting Official Mod Support For Xbox Consoles

Dying Light 2 developer Techland has just released the game's suite of mod tools on PC - enabling fans to create custom maps and more using the in-depth toolset. Well, in a somewhat surprising reveal, those tools will also be coming to console in the future!

Mod support is becoming a little more common on console generally, but the practice is still nowhere near as widespread as it is on PC. We're glad to see Techland deliver this feature for players on all platforms, especially given the potential for some incredible creations with Dying Light's mod tools. Here's what mod.io CEO Scott Reismanis had to say on their collaboration with Techland:

"Over 700 custom maps were created for the first Dying Light game. Working with Techland to bring the next iteration of custom maps for Dying Light 2 Stay Human to PC and console, we aim to unlock a wider audience for user generated content (UGC) than ever before.

UGC is too good for players to miss, making official mod support accessible to all is an ambition we’re excited to share with Techland, and their creator community."

The dev team is also keen to see what community content is created using these tools, throwing down the gauntlet for Dying Light 2 players:

"We know you liked Developer Tools in Dying Light and we are excited to partner with mod.io to announce Dying Light 2 Stay Human now includes this incredible feature as well.

Our players now have even more content and possibilities to create maps and user-generated stories on them. It’s time to step up and show off your skills! So… what are you waiting for?"

Dying Light 2 will continue to grow, then, both via developer add-ons and user generated content. The team has already committed to "five years" of support for its zombie slaying sequel, so yeah, expect this one to stick around for a while!

Here's the confirmation of mod support coming to Xbox consoles at some point in the future:

"The release of developer tools on PC is just the beginning of the joint efforts between Techland and mod.io. The teams aim to create official mod support for Dying Light 2 Stay Human, available in-game on all platforms for all players."
