Second Extinction developer Systemic Reaction has confirmed that its co-op dino shooter is set to leave early access this October. The title joined the Game Preview program in April 2021, where it was also included in Xbox Game Pass.
For now, the preview version remains a Game Pass title, however the team hasn't confirmed if that'll be the case after the 1.0 launch. The developer has said that if you own the game currently it'll be a free upgrade, but whether the title remains in Game Pass come October remains to be seen.
Recently, we've seen similar situations with free Xbox Series upgrades, namely with Raji: An Ancient Epic and What Remains of Edith Finch. Both of those left Game Pass shortly after their upgrades landed, but with this one being an early access to 1.0 move, we'll just have to wait and see if it continues to be a part of Xbox Game Pass.
Second Extinction's full Xbox launch lands on October 20th, 2022.
Will you try this one out if it does stay in Game Pass? Let us know!

Cool concept for game poorly executed. I Uninstalled game after playing for a few moments. definitely not a diamond found in the rough. It's a dirty old rock with mud smeared on it.
I don't understand why people get charged for Game Preview titles. You're essentially paying to help someone make their product better. Sure, that may be a sly way of looking at it, but still...
If it was up to me, Game Preview would be free, with the final product being paid for.
@Kaloudz
I agree.
Or at least have a preview be closer to release and maybe a slight discount for those who tested the product?
@Japer83 Yeah that's a better way to have it. Just doesn't seem right using the current format. Using this game as an example, if it's as bad as the above are saying, the Devs have had money from preview buyers, money from GP, and yet still, it's a pretty janky game.
In fact if memory serves, they have every right to remove it from the store and discontinue it completely. It just seems like a daft concept to me. Like you say, if we're talking a few months then that's fine, but anything nearer to a year is just bonkers.
I hear slime rancher 2 is going on preview next month for a minimum of 18 months.
i love this game in the preview.. i think its the best preview game ever released...
@Kaloudz its free in gamepreview no need any cost to play!
