If you've been trying to redeem your Microsoft Rewards points over the weekend, you may have run into an issue where your Microsoft Rewards account has been unexpectedly suspended - fortunately, it's just a tech issue on Xbox's end.
Xbox Loyalty Marketing Lead Daniel Martins has been taking to Twitter to explain what's been going on, advising those who have been incorrectly suspended to contact Microsoft Rewards support:
Reports were flooding in a couple of days ago from Microsoft Rewards users across the globe, with the support team seemingly not aware of the issue at the time, suggesting they could have violated the Microsoft Services Agreement.
However, it's definitely just a bug, and Martins has advised that a fix has now been put in place to stop the issue from affecting additional accounts, but those who have suffered it already will have to wait until Monday at least:
"Update: a fix was deployed on late Friday to stop the issue from affecting additional accounts. The fix did not address already affected accounts.
The team will reconvene on Monday to work on the fix for impacted members. More updates will come. Sorry for inconvenience."

Everything is fine for me, but I know people who have been banned for trying to redeem their points.
This is not really related, but I'm worried I'll never want to redeem my points because I like accumulating them so much.
On a similar subject. I can collect normal points but can't get weekly points. Had about 40 weeks in a row before I realised. Tried to raise a ticket on it but no help so gave in owes me quite a few thousands of points.
@Jango-Forest I got mine to 120,000, but then Elden ring and KOF 15 came out. just shy of another 25 squid voucher as it stands.
This happened to me. First time ever to redeem for a gift card. Account disabled. No response from support.
If Microsoft can disable Rewards with zero accountability, who is to say they can't do it with the rest of our Xbox lives - one day your Ultimate just disappears because you are "banned".
I am surprised this hasn't made it to larger tech sites like Engadget or news sites like BBC News. If you have been banned and you're like the people on Reddit who are getting bad responses back from support, it would be a good idea to file a "news" report on sites like that to help them pick up on the problem and help Microsoft take notice and do the right thing by us.
There’s clearly something up with it. I tried to claim the free sweepstake entries that I got for the monthly reward, but I got an email saying the following:
“Our apologies.
We're reaching out to let you know we ran into some issues with your order. As a result, your order has been voided. However, your point balance has not been impacted.”
@Clankylad. I got that and then my account got banned.
Like multiple people on Reddit, contacting support just got me this... Ever wonder why there's a sudden increase in support requests, Dennis? Oh, and I didn't violate any of the conditions, and I only have one account, not "accounts".
Hello,
Thank you for waiting patiently. This is Dennis from Microsoft Rewards Support. We apologize for the delay due to the sudden increase in the number of service requests. We know that your account is suspended. We understand the importance of your Rewards account. Please let us explain.
We would like you to know that our investigation shows that your Microsoft Rewards account has been closed because you do not agree to the Microsoft Services Agreement that governs the Rewards Program that you accepted when you joined.
Our research shows that you or your Microsoft Rewards account has one or more violations of the Microsoft Services Agreement, which may include, but are not limited to:
As a result, your Microsoft Rewards accounts have been closed, points accumulated in your accounts have been voided, pending prize orders have been canceled, and you are disqualified from participating in Microsoft Rewards.
Sincerely
Dennis
Microsoft Rewards support
I hope this is straightened out soon as I'm hoping to cash in my points to go towards buying the Pride controller if/when it's released in the UK.
