Once again, we're hearing an update on the upcoming AEW Xbox game from pro wrestling star Kenny Omega, which is now officially titled AEW Fight Forever, and he's still hoping the game will be with us by the end of 2022.

Speaking to Fightful last week, Omega explained that his role on the project is nearly over as "the creative process is almost complete", and mentioned that developer Yuke's is working hard to try and get the project over the line:

"Now, it's almost time for me to find something else within this project to do because the creative process is almost complete where, we know how the matches will flow, we know some of the systems, we know the action and reaction type stuff. It's now in a process of being tuned and finely tuned from there. Still, a lot of stuff to implement, but our guys at Yuke's are working at a blistering pace."

"...with the go-getters at Yuke's and the guys on our side and Geta [Hideyuki "Geta" Iwashita] and his old contacts that have hopped on board and helped push us to the finish line we, hopefully, can be on schedule to make sure we get this game out by this year. Hopefully. Fingers crossed."

Omega then went on to talk to Sports Illustrated about AEW Fight Forever a couple of days later, explaining that he wants to make sure each wrestler in the game feels unique, and revealing there's some "real cool stuff with the game modes". He confirmed that WWE's newly-acquired Cody Rhodes will still be in the game as well:

“I was very passionate about making sure his legacy and position within the company were preserved. We’ve built this game from the ground up, starting everything from scratch. That’s why I thought this game could coincide with the birth of this company. You get to experience AEW from the beginning, from day one. The game is going to reflect a lot of that, even though our locker room is ever-changing.”

We'll keep you updated when we hear more about a release date for AEW Fight Forever on Xbox.
