It's a big year for Sonic the Hedgehog with Sonic Origins out next month and Sonic Frontiers to follow in holiday 2022. These new releases aren't the only Sonic titles getting released, either.
To the surprise of many, Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) has been relisted on the Xbox 360 marketplace. Unfortunately, this means it's only available to download on the Xbox 360. Pure Xbox can confirm this game can be purchased (at least for now) from the Xbox Store.
Sonic the Hedghog (2006) was originally released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the fastest hedgehog alive and was also a reboot.
It's unknown why exactly it's back on the Xbox Store, but keep in mind it's not backward compatible with the current generation Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One systems - so you'll need access to a 360 to play this one. If we hear any updates, we'll let you know.

Would be fantastic if despite saying the November 2021 batch was the last batch of backwards compatibility games if it turned out that Microsoft announces a big batch of backwards compatibility and FPS Boost games in the Xbox Showcase including the remaining Sonic games for backwards compatibility and Rise of the Tomb Raider for FPS Boost.

Something might be going on, I've noticed a couple new games added to the 360 store recently. Hopefully it means new back compat games incoming, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up.
Yep, just rebought a pretty decent looking 360 Slim after being able to get this for $5 (took multiple attempts but it finally took my money 😅)
Pitty that my Submission about Burnout Paradise for 360 being Re-Listed wasn't reported on a couple weeks ago, it has since been Delisted again... Important since the Remaster removed 2 Songs (pretty great ones as well) and the game is BackCompat, glad I have that Digital now as I hate having to put Discs in for what are essentially Digital Games.
My guess is that they're gonna release an Xbox classic at the Xbox showcase.
It'll primarily be a Game Pass streaming machine like we all suspect, but it will also be an Xbox classic with a small hard drive so you can buy digital versions of Original Xbox and Xbox 360 games.

Just kidding. I actually want to play Sonic '06 and it is probably one I will enjoy, especially since it is similar to the Sonic Adventure games which I really loved.
I tried 3 times, not gonna try more. Might be an accident, might be official, but it was worth a shot.
Ah ! I litterally just bought a used copy of that game, cause I wanted to replay it with limited loading times by installing it (I've also got it on PS3, and it's a nightmare for the disc drive).
Waited three weeks for my copy to drop in my mailbox.
And then, when I finally was able to install it, I noticed "What ? You can actually buy it on Games on Demand ? Oh, man !"
Well this is a surprise. Downloading now just in case it goes back down but damn Sega, you delist Sonic 1,2 and CD but bring back 06? I'll never figure you out
For £3.39, I bought it for prosterity's sake.
If Microsoft want the Series X to beat the PS5 then they surely just need 4K120 Sonic 06. Make it happen!

@Fishticon I don’t think that machine would sell very well when the Series S has next-gen, loads of back-compat and cloud gaming covered for an entry level price .

@belmont I just bought it from the UK web store. Don't have a 360 right now so I can't say if it actually works beyond purchase (hoping for a surprise Series BC update) but other people have been able to download and play it.

I remember renting this and beating it over a weekend with a friend way back in 2006 when we were teenagers.
And what a weekend that was. Don’t think I need to relive it though, no desire to ever touch this game again.

@Gunonaboat True for me too, but I was trying to buy another X360 game - Yar's Revenge. After selecting my card a blank window with a spinner appeared... and nothing next. Now I remembered my unsuccessful trying to do the same some time ago. I suggest that they removed the option to buy the games from the website. Need to try this on the console...
