It's been a pretty good week for Microsoft - with the company once again knocking it out of the park in its latest earnings report from an Xbox perspective. Team Green also announced it would be hosting an Xbox and Bethesda showcase this June.
Of course, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has been watching it all unfold, and he's rather pleased. In fact, he's taken to social media to appreciate the "nice moment" for both Microsoft and Xbox this week as well as thank the heads of Microsoft, and thank everyone else for their feedback and support.
"Coming to the end of a good week. MS earnings were a nice moment for Xbox, it's always great to hear Amy and Satya talk about the progress. Followed by announce of the #XboxBethesda showcase. I just want to say thank you for all the feedback and support, very much appreciated."
Earlier this week, not long after Microsoft's latest earnings report was released (revealing Xbox gaming revenue was up by 6% YoY), Microsoft Executive Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella mentioned how Xbox Series X and S had "taken share globally for two quarters in a row" and was "the market leader this quarter among next-gen consoles in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Western Europe."
As previously noted, this message translates to Xbox Series X and S potentially outselling certain console competitors over the past two quarters.
How are you feeling about Xbox's future after this week? Leave your thoughts down below.

This is all positive, but the icing on the cake will be hard convincing gameplay coming out of their event in June. All of this momentum will be lost if people don’t see any signs that more games are in the near future. We’re tired of cgi and rumored projects in the works. We want proof and we deserve that for being loyal Xbox supporters.
@Kingleo31 Absolutely and given Xbox has so many studios and practically unlimited resources. Yet we are still seeing issues with Xbox Game Studios management. Problems with Perfect Dark, State of Decay 3, Everwild and Fable.
@Kingleo31 definitely expect a good showcase like last year with the great pacing of gameplay and game announcements. CGI for something the first time is fine but second showing needs gameplay.
@Kingleo31 Couldn't have said it better myself. There's a lot riding on their June showcase. Another CGI-fest with announcements of games years away and everything continues to just be potential without anything much to give confidence that it will be fulfilled would do more damage than anything imo.
With that said, I expect them to actually do it right. I would hope they realize having 500 developers doesn't mean anything if we don't get real evidence that there will be many payoffs from it all.
Definitely on the right upward trajectory and well deserved after years of pro-consumer decisions and a solid end to 2021.
That said there IS still concern about some first party studios and release cadence. The start of this year is woefully quiet again, same as last year, and as @Chaudy rightly said there is concern about quite a lot of upcoming projects.
@Kingleo31 completely agree it’s time to finally see a pay off for all that investment. To start seeing gameplay and a regular flow of first party titles.
Hopefully this is the year… but I feel we’ve been saying that for a long time.
Congratulations all,
But no time to sit back and relax yet lol. Now is the moment to keep the hype train burning.
So many games at your disposal.
This year i want to see gameplay of perfect dark.
And at least a confirmation, that a new next gen killerinstinct is in development.
@Kingleo31 don't worry there'll be lots of concept art for starfield ... Jk 😂
@Chaudy
Could have not put it better, they need to start pushing out the big AAA games showing us true gameplay and 2022 and 2023 release dates.
They can only ride this little wave of success for a short while without having these so many studios give us results.
I will be honest world circumstances have helped them.
I am so pleased they are doing well and I’m a big Xbox fan, been there since day one on day of release every console.
They have a great console in the series x the best there is and best features and game pass, but at the end of the day games are required that set the gamers and the general public, with I must of those games.
Market leader and increase in revenues! Well done Microsoft. Their plans and Game Pass are certainly working and rewarding them financially, despite what some desperate Sony fans or jealous journalists have been saying, I look forward to the end of the year and seeing where they are.
Of subject ASDA UK selling Resident Evil Village for £15, they just dropped the price.
@Krzzystuff People asked for gameplay of certain games at their shows and events and they delivered. Halo for instance everyone wanted new gameplay and they showed it, and for other games too if I recall. So I suspect we will see gameplay for Starfield at the event and other games. May even see Forza Motorsport.
I think Microsoft give some developers to much freedom without coal face management and project milestones.
If we let our designers run riot without manufacturing and quality getting involved, as good as the designers are we would probably not get the product out the door, or we could not make it or it would cost a fortune.
It’s good project leadership, management and a cohesive team that gets results.
@Kingleo31 I agree. Lots of self congratulations and slaps on the back, but still not a title on series x which shows its 12tf of power yet, and thats pretty poor this long into its lifetime. I hope for more, but we've seen too little so far and im very much hoping the show in 3 months will finally show us proper 12tf gameplay.
The faithfull definately deserve more. Im not faithful, i have and use everything including ps5 which ive used a lot, but I like my Series X and want some titles that show the beast within!
@Titntin you have to praise people for all the hard work they do to put your company in position to grow and do well. Phil see’s work behind the scenes daily, weekly and monthly that we don’t and teams like the praise and thanks. As for the games we all know coming out of the Xbox One gen that the cabinets were dry and that game development takes time. So they are right on track from what little they had to work with and when the games due start to get finished up they will have a onslaught of games coming and that will carry into the next gen and not leave a whole in the beginning. The Hell Blade 2 trailer showed what the 12TFLOPS and UE5 engine can do. Dev’s should be now stating to get up to speed with the dev kits that Microsoft changed on them last minute to add Full RDNA 2 features in. The best is yet to come and i too own all 3 and still play my Xbox the most, but everyone has different play styles and i respect that.
@Rural-Bandit Thats a positive assesment of the situation I can respect. I sincerely hope you are correct as im keen to reap the benefits of their success myself!
I may have a few doubts over some titles, but theres no question about the quality of output of some of the new ms studios, so some excellent 1st party titles are definately coming, and Ill be be as happy as anyone to get them. In the meantime, gp hardly leaves you stuck for something to play! 😁
@Titntin Yeah GP gives a lot of content for the money no doubt. But i understand and appreciate the voices saying we need to see the games, i want them also, but i understand this was a process for them to get the talent and then the games would come but there was for sure going to be a gap. Hell even Nintendo has large gaps of great content and so does Sony and they were both in far better shape then Xbox coming into the gen for in house studios.
But MS is looking to own a nice chunk of great software and add that to excellent hardware and services and i would say they are lightyears ahead of their last efforts under different leadership of course. All 3 are looking really strong and worth owning, i have all 3 and actually play my Xbox and Switch the most. But am Excited for God of War, after that i have no clue as to what Sony has that excites me.
