Aaron Keller, Jeff Kaplan's replacement as the director of the Overwatch team, has shared a new update about Overwatch 2.
First of all, he's essentially apologised on behalf of the team for the lack of communication and says this is all set to change as of now.
In terms of updates, Blizzard will be "decoupling" PVP from PVE development, so everyone can get their hands on Overwatch 2 sooner.
PVP (player vs player) includes a new revised 5V5 format and will go into a closed alpha test this week. It will follow with the first closed PVP beta (open to the public) in April, and more will follow later on in 2022.
Blizzard president Mike Ybarra also reiterated in a post on Twitter how communication and content from the Overwatch team would improve going forward.
As you may recall, at the start of this year, Microsoft announced it would acquire Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion - with the deal expected to close at some point in fiscal year 2023.

An update that more updates are coming..
It’s about time that anything has been heard about the game
Hard to get excited about a sequel when it's just a free patch to an existing game that the developers just can't seem to figure out heads or tails of since launch.
I was hoping that Overwatch 2 would be a new and refined game developed with the things learned over the course of incessantly changing the first game. Boy was I let down when they announced OW2.
