You can now begin downloading the first batch of January 2022's Xbox Games With Gold titles (one day early!), which are the Xbox One game NeuroVoider and Xbox 360 game Radiant Silvergun. Both titles are available right now from the Microsoft Store (links at the bottom of the page) or by searching manually on your console.
Here's what you can look forward to:
NeuroVoider (January 1 - 31)
NeuroVoider is a twin-stick shooter RPG set in a cyber futuristic world about brains shooting around evil robots with nuclear rocket launchers. Battle through the horde of vigilant robots, boost your character with the smoking remains of your victims, and defeat the master NeuroVoider to end this eternal war. Play it coop with up to 4 friends, or go alone in an adventure of hack'n'slash rampage, with a pinch of rogue-lite, and some permadeath.
Radiant Silvergun (January 1 - 15):
Radiant Silvergun, restored by Treasure, is now available! The shoot ‘em up gameplay that made this a legend remains unchanged, but a hidden "Ikaruga-style" shooting mode gives everyone something new. Previously only available in Japan, Radiant Silvergun on Xbox LIVE Arcade also provides leaderboards, co-op play locally or over Xbox LIVE, downloadable replays, and improved visuals making it the version to own.
You can download both games from the following links over at the Microsoft Store:
- NeuroVoider (January 1 - 31)
- Radiant Silvergun (January 1 - 15)
PS: If Radiant Silvergun isn't showing as "FREE" yet, you can also get it on the Xbox 360 Marketplace:
- Radiant Silvergun (Xbox 360 Marketplace Link)
Will you be downloading either of these games later today? Let us know in the comments.

I don't understand the hate for GwG. It's free games if you have a subscription. If they scrap it you would get nothing except what is at the mercy of being on Gamepass.
@Alduin that's exactly what I said. If they removed them, we'd still pay the same subscription fee but wouldn't get the games at all.
And I don't think there's anyone out there who pays for Gold just to get these games. There's no point in killing it because getting something is better than getting nothing.
I've played NeuroVoider on Switch. It's a playable twin stick shooter with some cool upgrade mechanics you can break. Worth some achievement hunting. Radiant Silvergun is an old school top down shooter. If you like this style of game you probably already got this one as its a classic. If these games were on gamepass no-one would complain.
@Carck Its nearly 2022 can we get over this whole if you are critical of anything then you must hate it all and should go away to use whatever the rival happens to be.
Newsflash:. It's ok to be critical of one or several parts of a service. It doesn't mean you hate the whole thing (Xbox in his case) it just means you are being critical of that aspect of it (games with gold).
It's also ok to disagree too but when you find others who do disagree don't be so close minded that your only response is to tell them to go elsewhere.
For many myself included the games with gold is the weakest part of the Xbox service. Just because we are critical of this part and want it to be better it doesn't mean we are Sony fanboys or hate Xbox we just want that part to be better.
Again if you think it's fine good for you I am glad someone feels they are getting value from it. I hope one day that I might feel the same but if thing stay the same sadly I won't.
@Alduin One of the greatest games of its genre is a poor selection? You might not be a shmup fan but Radiant Silvergun is the polar opposite of poor.
……… if you live insert region here cos it aint the UK
People will complain about anything. It's not being "critical". What's next bit•chin about the "free samples" at big box stores?? "I pay a yearly membership to Costco! They need to put out samples I want!" DERP
@Carck Sorry if you think speaking plainly but politely is being a d*ck.
Your words are "bro, just play on PlayStation then". You don't say enjoy at all. Your actual words literally are saying go somewhere else if you don't like the thing being offered here.
As for disagreeing please re-read my last paragraph of my previous post again. I have no issue with you disagreeing indeed as stated I am glad someone thinks they are getting value for money. I just don't feel the same no defensiveness or fanboying just a different opinion and I can live with that, can you?
Thank you for your time and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
This comments section got spicy.
@PhhhCough Heres your meal sir and please enjoy your complimentary dog turd. Don't worry we are not charging you extra for this turd so you can't comment on it at all.
I am happy you seem to think you are getting value but not everyone feels the same, hence the criticism. Not asking you to agree with me only understand it's a difference of opinion.
Hope that makes sense and you enjoy the rest of your day.
@Carck name calling now, classy and "so defensive" too.
Thank you for your contribution though and I hope 2022 is good for you.
I'm excited to play these two games. I have the Phillips Hue system for my television so getting to try and fast paced games like twin stick shooters and shmups. Not sure about the argument about PS plus. You only have those games until you end your subscription. Also 2/3 have been on Game Pass for a year and the other isn't even on Xbox.
I have Neurovoider queued but Radiant Silvergun is still showing up as a 14.99 purchase for me…it’ll probably be r2g later today 👍
X360:
"Uh oh... that shouldn't have happened.
It appears you've found a glitch in the system. Please try again later."
@BBB well, I can turn away a "complimentary dog turd", I'm not obligated to accept it. Same with these free games. Don't like them, walk on by. No one was crying about "getting free games", when it wasn't an option. Like the saying goes, "give'em an inch, and they think they're a ruler".
I understand "opinions", but being critical is different. People were critical of the xbox live price increase. No one liked it. They changed it. People not liking the free games, is opinion. Cause some like it.
I am getting value, but I'm a gamepass subscriber. But "value" is subjective, right?
You have a great 2022, as well. I'm on the way to grab my serious x. Finally!
When you consider that all 3 of the tomb raider reboot games are currently free on epic games store & you don't need a paid subscription this look pretty rubbish in comparison
@Would_you_kindly Epic giving away games for over 2 years with no buy-in at all required is…pretty Epic. 🤡
This comment section is terrible.
Perfect place to wish everyone a happy 2022🤣
@Dusk_Actual I get that they do it because they want to beat steam & become the market leaders on pc but if they can give some great games away completely free I don't see why a company as large as Microsoft insists on charging for online multiplayer & offering some meh games
@Alduin Well the difference here is how you can actually keep the 360 games regardless of your subscription status, while PS+ is just a very poor Gamepass alternative with a slow trickle feed of games where you have to be subbed for a long time to have any sort of decent selection.
I've claimed them both. Radiant Silvergun is great, thank you....
Great to see some shmup and shooter attention from Xbox. These are not poor selections at all. Haha, wish I could trade someone the Persona 5 Strikers I will be getting from PS+ for Radiant Sivergun!!
@Carck Radiant Silvergun is as good as anything I've seen offered on Plus or Gold for years, a truly excellent game, just one I already owned
@BANJO Happy New Year 😆
Looking forward to trying Radiant Silvergun. I got the other one yesterday. Radiant Silvergun was on my wish list for long time.
@Fishface these games are absolutely 💩! Terrible when compared with Sony's monthly offerings at a similar price. And these games are not free... They are part of a subscription service...
Atrocious...
@carlos82 no it's not... PS+ subscribers got Persona 5 Strikers, pretty much a AAA game this month, and Microsoft give out this crap?!? Terrible...
@JayJ don't lie to yourself...GwG is rubbish... PS+ offerings smash this out of the park...
@Toner1984 AAA doesn't mean a game is better or more worthwhile, Persona Strikers is a good game but I wouldn't say ots better than Radiant Silvergun
@Carck no... Games with gold is part of the subscription service... How exactly is it free?!? How do you think gold is just payment for online services?!? Most game companies support the online part of their games with their own servers?
@carlos82 radiant Silvergun, is nearly 24 years old now, strikers is barely 2. And AAA means that Sony are making more of an effort than Microsoft... Clearly...
@Toner1984 it's no secret that Microsoft are obviously going to put what are perceived bigger games onto Gamepass but regardless of age that is still a great game
@Toner1984 They are both a joke if you were to ask me.
@JayJ I have both... So not a fanboy of either, PS+ has by far the better 'free games' offering. Since the next gen systems were released, Xbox have offered just one next gen game, while every month since release, playstation have released a next gen game. Apart from gears 5, the next best game offering on Xbox this year was Resident Evil, this was released 5 years ago on PS+. A truly shocking GwG lineup over the past year, very disappointing.
@Toner1984 No idea why you tagged me in a reply, I haven't been part of any conversation about GwG being free or otherwise. Leave me well out of it.
@Shigurui I have no idea either! 🤣🤷🏻♂️ Removed you...
@Alduin what third party developers are avoiding Xbox? You do realize that third party developers are paid and funded for Sony's exclusive titles. None of them are narrowing their market out of choice or avoidance of Microsoft... and I don't see Sony offering up all of their exclusives for free indefinitely either. You sound super desperate to criticize Microsoft even though they're doing a lot more than Sony in the first place. Perhaps that's what you're really mad about?
@Toner1984 except gwg are free for you to keep, PS+ games are free for a limited time only.
@Alduin they arer free cause if you cancel said service you still keep the games.....you pay to play online the games were a bonus to make the service a better value....
and for those saying crap games play radiant silvergun its awesome. arcade vetical space shooter
@Toner1984 again they are free unlike sonys ps+ games.... cancel you xbox live sub you can keep playing these games as you own them...cancel ps+ can all those games are gone cause you dont own them....so GwG = Free Games Ps+ = Free till you cancel
@Blessed_Koz I guess so. I always play games online, and will always need the subscription, so will always have those games anyways, makes no difference for me as I'll always have a sub regardless...
@Royalblues so your point was that the poor games on offer would be liked by someone, so don't moan about them... And then you call a triple A game garbage?!😂
Just keep it moving!🤣
@Royalblues you're right, I am totally wasting my time... Talking to you... With your invalid points... Valid points being something you're clearly not capable of.
