EA Reportedly 'Shot Down' Pitch For Star Wars Battlefront 3

Star Wars Battlefront 2 endured such a crazy lifespan, starting out as one of the most lambasted releases of all time, and going on to totally right those wrongs and become one of the best Star Wars games in the history of the franchise.

Unfortunately, it sounds like we might be left waiting for Star Wars Battlefront 3 for quite some time, as according to known insider Tom Henderson, an internal pitch for the game was "shot down" by EA "due to licensing costs".

Henderson went on to explain that many key members of the Battlefront series have left developer DICE in the past year, which suggests a sequel to Battlefront 2 is highly unlikely at this point, at least for the foreseeable future.

However, he mentioned that EA is developing two Star Wars games, "but it appears that those titles are more story-driven/single-player instead of multiplayer". We're assuming one of those is a sequel to Respawn's Jedi: Fallen Order.

Ultimately, if you're a Battlefront fan, it sounds like you're going to have stick with Battlefront 2 for now. Fortunately, the game is in a great place these days, and it's accessible at no extra charge with EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
