If you were browsing social media yesterday afternoon / evening, you might have seen that Xbox Game Studios Publishing on Twitter posted a tease for "something special" this week, with a suggestion it could be related to Fable.
Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case, as the brand has returned to Twitter to apologise for the confusion and confirm that it has no big game news planned for today, nor does it have anything to do with the new Fable reboot.
Here's what happened:
The original tweets have now been deleted, so it looks they were ultimately just a bit of poor judgement.
We'll be keeping an eye on Xbox Game Studios Publishing to see what the "something special" is regardless, but considering it's not said to be "big game news", it's probably best to keep expectations low.

I saw the Tweet last night and have to admit, as it was from THE source, I was pretty dam excited! Any Fable news is amazing news in my book 😁

What a mistake too. Xbox are usually so on point with this stuff.
Pretty poor error on their part. You’d hope a major multi national would do more proof reading.
I wasn’t expecting Fable 4 but it did read like a new remaster of an older game. Probably 2 as it appears it’s release anniversary is this week
Yeah I suspect at the very best it'll be a backwards compatibility update on one of the old games, whereas the tweet sounded more like they were announcing a remake / remaster of the trilogy (which I'd be very up for!)
They pulling people's legs or what? That's a hell of a mistake to make so I'm wondering if they just messing with folks? Well known in a few hours I guess but they even used the word "Fable"

Weirdly specific for it to turn out to be a mistake.
Its hard to believe this was simply a mistake.
Poor show Xbox, please don't tease Fable fans like that, its been a long drought as is.
We've been waiting a long time for anything new with the Fable franchise. What a kicker.
Can't be a bigger mistake than when Sony released the Blue a Point graphic before the deal went through!
