After the action-packed reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live, developer Firaxis has delivered a lengthy gameplay trailer for Marvel's Midnight Suns.

While the XCOM DNA is clearly running through its veins, the gameplay demonstrates it's more than just a reskin of the formula. Instead, Marvel's Midnight Suns seems to be crafting a name for itself in its own ways.

You'll make your own hero and battle along with your favourite Marvel characters through turn-based tactical combat. Each mission will see you dealt an assortment of cards, which can be used to throw down devastating superhero abilities in battle, whilst also adding some variety to each mission. Players will have to carefully plan out each move and attack to score a victory.

However, it's not all fighting. Outside of missions, you'll be able to freely explore a hub known as The Abbey, which is filled with places to explore, opportunities to form bonds with other superheroes and a place to unwind before preparing for your next mission. Marvel fans will relish at the opportunity to hang out with their favourite heroes.

If the full six-minute long trailer doesn't tickle your fancy, there's also a shortened version that gets the message across just as well.

Marvel's Midnight Suns is expected to launch sometime in March 2022 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. We'll no doubt get more gameplay before then, but for now, it does seem to be a promising use of the Marvel license which we're very interested in.
