We'd known for a while now that Xbox Cloud Gaming was coming to console at some point, following its previously successful launch for mobile and PC, and now we have an official release window of holiday 2021.

It will be made available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate users, and it will be as simple as clicking on the game you want to play on the Game Pass app. The target is to run cloud games on console at up to 1080p, 60fps.

And yes, because of the way Xbox Cloud Gaming works, this means you'll be able to access Xbox Series X|S games on your Xbox One through the power of the cloud, including exclusives such as Microsoft Flight Simulator. However, according to an article over on Xbox Wire, this feature will be "coming in the future", so presumably not at launch.

"Bottom line? Cloud gaming on your console further reduces your time to fun! All you have to do is navigate to Xbox Game Pass and look for games with the cloud icon.

We’ll begin testing the experience as part of our Xbox Insider program this fall, so that we can gather valuable feedback and improve the experience."
