The development team at Tango Gameworks has announced today that their upcoming action-adventure game Ghostwire: Tokyo has been delayed to 2022, which means we probably won't see it on Xbox consoles until 2023.
The announcement was made on social media, where the team explained that the health of employees is paramount, and the delay "will give us the time to bring the world of Ghostwire to life as we've always envisioned it".
The reason we won't be seeing Ghostwire: Tokyo on Xbox consoles until even later than 2022 is because an exclusivity agreement was signed with PlayStation to make the game console exclusive for an entire year from release.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer has noted in the past how he plans to honour existing agreements that were made prior to Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda, but it remains to be seen whether this new development will change those plans.
What are your thoughts on the delay to Ghostwire: Tokyo? Let us know down in the comments below.

We already have an unbelievable lineup for 2023 and now this.
Honestly this game never looked like it was for me so not bothered by it personally.
I'm still under the belief that the gaming industry has been hit a lot harder than they are letting the public know just to keep the shares from tumbling on the market. Great time to have that crushing weight of the gamepass backlog on my shoulders.
From what's been shown so far, I'm not sure what to think of this game. The very first reveal looked intriguing but then last year's updated reveal looked like a mess to me. Hoping this gives them time to really make something special.
I think the writing was on the wall with the deafening silence from the devs until now.
Shame Xbox owners have to wait, but it is what it is.
Doesn't have a choice but to honor deals that happen before acquisitions. Otherwise they (Xbox) would have to buy out said deal/contract. Don't want to breach the agreement here. Too bad Xbox gamers have to wait til 2023 to get it.
I'll be fine with battlefield, halo, riders republic, forza horizons 5, Microsoft flight simulator and everything in between with game pass additions. I still want to try the Evil Within.
I love it when devs delay a game and say “thank you for being patient”...like we have a choice 🙄
Wasn’t even on my radar… still isn’t. LOL
It's fine. With GamePass, this just means you'll have a new AAA title to look forward to in early 2023 at no extra charge.
