EA has announced Battlefield Portal today as part of EA Play Live 2021, which is a brand-new experience coming to Battlefield 2042, acting as a love letter to the series.

The huge new feature will add a substantial amount of content. Along with the previously announced seven maps in BF 2042, Battlefield Portal will also be including six maps from previous games in the series. Battle of the Bulge and El Alamein from Battlefield 1942; Arica Harbor and Valparaiso from Battlefield: Bad Company 2; and finally Caspian Border and Noshahr Canals from Battlefield 3 will all be included.

Not only that, but it will also include 40+ weapons, 40+ vehicles, and 30+ gadgets from across the three entries. The army types from each game, along with their relevant titles - such as Battlefield 3’s Assault, Engineer, Support and Recon roles - will also make an appearance.

The most exciting feature, in our opinion, is the Builder, which allows users to create their own unique Battlefield experiences. Here you'll be able to tweak a wide range of options for your own custom match setups. The choices you can make go rather in-depth, all the way down to choosing whether players can aim down the sights of their gun or not.

Alongside options such as this, you can tweak the amount of players, weapon loadouts, the HUD display, restrictions, modes and a wide range of other settings. It's the opportunity to put you in control of the battlefield and create your own experience with friends, or even share it with the wider community.

EA isn't just stopping there, though. Another new mode is set to be revealed in the future known as Hazard Zone, which is an "all-new, high-stakes, squad-based game-type, never seen before in the Battlefield franchise". It's said to not be battle royale related, so we're excited to hear about this one as well.

Everything about the game so far sounds like a definitive Battlefield experience. It's an exciting time to be a fan!
