The rumours were true! Sega has announced that Sonic Colors is getting a remaster and an Xbox release for the first time on September 7.
The Nintendo Wii title originally launched back in 2010, and took Sonic and the gang into an intergalactic adventure. Now, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S players can see what the fuss is about in this fan favourite entry. A digital deluxe edition includes early access, exclusive music, gold & silver wearables, exclusive player icons, and a Sonic movie boost. Not only that, but a physical edition is also coming bundled with a cute Baby Sonic keychain. How cute!
Join Sonic in the high-speed adventure of a lifetime! The evil Dr. Eggman has built a gigantic interstellar amusement park bursting with incredible rides and colorful attractions—but he’s powering it with a captured alien race called “Wisps.” Use Sonic’s lightning speed to free the Wisps and learn the secrets of their amazing powers as you explore six unique colorful worlds, each filled with dangerous enemies and hurdles to overcome. Now with stunning upscaled visuals, additional features, a new game mode and enhanced gameplay—it’s the Ultimate Sonic Colors experience. Sonic will be tested on this exciting journey to free the Wisps – but with their help, and yours, it’s a test he’ll pass with flying Colors!
If that wasn't enough, a new Sonic game has been teased for 2022, although we have no real details on what the game will be other than it's coming to Xbox. It's an exciting time for Sonic fans, and more news has been promised in the coming months.

I've said this before but this is one of the best 3D Sonic games ever made. Don't miss out on this one!
Good show! Eager to try this since I missed it on the Wii!
Nice, Day freaking one for me.. Can't wait to play this for the first time..
Yep, I think I'll be getting this!
My favourite Sonic 3D game is Sonic Generations but Sonic Colours in HD is very interesting. Sonic Lost World is better than Colours in my opinion but you have to replay areas to progress.
Eh, I'm excited for everyone else who is happy with these announcements, but I wasnt too big into Colors when it originally released on Wii. Think I'll pass on this
Yup, this is a very good choice for a remaster. Colors is definitely one of the best Sonic games of the last decade, so at least someone was paying attention over there.
@ThanosReXXX @LtSarge I never played this one fearing that it was going to be a other mediocre Sonic game but with the both of you giving it such high praises I just might have to check it out.
@Tasuki I think that you'll find it surprisingly enjoyable. I came across this game back in the Wii days, after having been thoroughly disappointed and slightly annoyed at Sonic Unleashed on the Xbox 360, and personally, I found that Colors was far more in spirit of the original Sonic games than many of the titles before it.
The last actually good Sonic game that I played before Colors, was Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast...
Compared to all the dross released in between that game and Sonic Unleashed, Colors was like a breath of fresh air.
Of course, opinions differ, and there's no accounting for personal taste, but besides myself, I know of plenty of other people that played it and who at the very least gave it a positive review.
These might also help lay to rest any lingering doubts:
That last video is rather long but only the first part is about Colors, and better safe than sorry, right?
@Tasuki The thing is that the Sonic games from that era used to always have some form of gimmick to make them not enjoyable. On the Wii there were Sonic and the Secret Rings as well as Sonic and the Black Knight, both of which had motion controls in order to move Sonic around, which weren't good at all. Sonic Unleashed had the Werehog stages that were too slow while the Sonic stages were really fun. Previous 3D Sonic games didn't have the tight controls as well as sense of speed that modern Sonic titles have. So we're left with games like Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations which didn't have annoying gimmicks and they had a great sense of speed while controlling Sonic as well as tight controls. The gimmick in Colors are the Wisps and they honestly don't ruin the pace of the stages as most of them also give you a great sense of speed while only lasting a short while. In other words, it's a very good 3D Sonic game overall.
@LtSarge @ThanosReXXX Thanks for the info guys. I will make sure to check this one out. The last Sonic game I enjoyed was Sonic Generations.
@Tasuki You're very welcome.
Very happy about the physical release. Let's go! 🙌🏼
Sonic Colors will not be released on Xbox in Japan. Neither will Tokyo Olympics or Two Point Hospital.
We have no right to celebrate Sonic's 30th anniversary on Xbox.
Awesome News!!! I’m in! Day one!! And let’s hope the sonic origins compilation coming next year will be a healthy dose of classic sonic!!
