We're getting desperate for a proper peek at Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 gameplay in the near future (hopefully at E3!), but in the meantime, Ninja Theory has shared a look at how clouds work from a visual standpoint in the game.
Taking to Twitter, the studio explained that it's using flow maps to "make clouds form and dissolve naturally," and as you can see from the short snippet below, the results are looking absolutely superb.
It's hard to believe that it's now been a year and a half since Hellblade 2 was first unveiled back at The Game Awards 2019 alongside the Xbox Series X, and the team remained mostly quiet on its progress throughout 2020.
We're assuming it's not getting a release this year, but we'd love to see a more meaty update at E3 all the same.
Liking the look of this? Excited for Hellblade 2? Let us know down in the comments below.

What excites me is the prospect of the Xbox Game Studios sharing technology and knowledge with each other. With stuff like this, Ninja Theory could help the other studios make more impressively looking scenery. At least that's what I'm hoping since that's how the ZeniMax studios have been operating. If Microsoft could adopt the culture of those studios and integrate it into all of Xbox Game Studios then we'd ideally see an overall increase in quality with all of the studios' titles.
This is undoubtedly cool tech but the trouble is, if they are going for realism, this change will happen as such a glacial pace it will barely be noticed.
Perhaps in one of the more fever dream moments of madness Senua experiences the clouds will roll in at a speed like this to show off the tech or use it in other games as @LtSarge suggested
I've seen this done before and other studios showing more than just clouds, just show some actual gameplay already not some clouds.....
Skies in games are really getting perfect. From Sea of Thieves to Microsoft Flight Simulator to now this. Really adds to the detail and helps myself get immersed in the game I'm playing. I LOVE CLOUDS!
They copied that scene straight from the gates of Kattegat on the Vikings show.
@Halucigens
The cloud formations are nice, but the most impressive visual feature SoT has is the water.
