If you were following the news back in March, it was reported that Microsoft was in advanced talks to acquire the group-chat platform Discord, but now The Wall Street Journal is reporting that those talks have ended.
The outlet states that according to its sources, Discord fielded interest from at least three companies about a potential acquisition, but the talks "ended without a deal, though it is possible they could be rekindled in the future."
"Discord fielded interest from at least three companies about a deal, some of the people said. They said Discord is performing well and prefers to stay independent at this time."
Originally, it was believed that Microsoft's offer was in excess of $10 billion, valuing it even higher than the recent acquisition of Bethesda, and that a deal could have been completed this month. Looks like that won't be the case now!

Hope if they have ever resume the talks, Microsoft gets the deal done.
Personally I think it's for the better. I'd prefer Microsoft focus on bringing quality games to the Xbox ecosystem, not gaming media.
Dollars to doughnuts it had something to do with Tencent.
@101Force This 100%
They really don't need Discord. I can't see what they'd add to specifically making Xbox as a platform better
i think Microsoft resources would be better spent on acquiring more game development studios . adding even more games to its already expanding Microsoft studios lineup. maybe acquiring the music streaming company Spotify or pretzel music bundling it with game pass ultimate
