I know it technically isn't, but I feel like Captain Spirit is best considered as an actual episode of Life is Strange 2 - like an episode 0 or 1.5 - I mean, LiS2 literally prompts you to play it, and it's free.
Anyway, I voted for 2. It has pacing issues, but I thought it's themes were more profound and better realized.
I have only played the first one (and Tell Me Why). But I intend to play before the storm and 2.
To be honest I tryed the game but it was all about feeling and soppy emo stuff not for me but each to there own.
Never played the Life Is Strange games before, I think i might start when the remasters come out..
Before the Storm is easily my favorite. It's the only one that didn't give you some supernatural ability and I thought it was all the better for that. It also seemed to do the best job of giving me control over where the story went, making my choices feel like they had a real impact. It was also just a great story, it was all about the people and relationships. A pretty unique experience to be honest, the other games seem to be more focused on other things.
I actually played it before the original and it made me feel for the characters to the point where I just had to play the original to see the ending of that story. By the time I was done I wished the original was more like BtS, my choices didn't feel like they had any real impact by the end of the original game and the whole time manipulation thing resulted with the story going all over the place and me feeling detached from where it eventually went. In BtS everything just progressed naturally and I felt like I was always in control of the story development, and the ending I got felt like a true result of the choices I made.
Plus it had a really fun Dungeons and Dragons-esque mini game, they presented it in such a fun and unique way that it made me wish they made a whole game around that. The other games just didn't have anything like that.
None. I tried the first after everyone raving about it and it bored me senseless. Maybe it’s my age but it was pretty insufferable stuff.
I've played all of the Life is Strange games and I loved the first one the most simply because the ending was so unexpected, but it made complete sense.
Life is Strange 2 was just a journey, it was an amazing game, but it was obvious what the main goal was.
Before the Storm was a really good game, it showed certain things that you are told about in the first time, butt this time you get to actually experience them
Captain Spirit was a fun little DLC/standalone, it was a pleasant change from the formula of Life is Strange. It ties into Life is Strange 2 pretty nicely.
Loved the first game but the others have done nothing for me. Too similar in tone I guess. I did really enjoy Tell Me Why and Twin Mirror though.
