Capcom announced today as part of the Resident Evil Showcase that Resident Evil Village would be getting a playable demo today on PS5, but unfortunately Xbox owners will have to wait a little longer.
During the stream, it was revealed that all platforms would be getting a separate demo sometime this Spring (with the game itself set to release on May 7th), as the team wants "as many people as possible to get a chance to play".
Fortunately, we're not missing out on any major narrative details as the PS5 demo is separate from the main game, and actually doesn't feature any kind of combat at all, acting as a short story in the RE: Village universe.

You're not missing much, just watched a stream of it and its about 20 minutes long and more of a way to look at the environments they've made
While it isn't the best scenario, I can't help but be happy these exclusive windows are down month intervals.
I wonder how the last gen versions will be come launch day. I suspect Capcom won't pull an Ubisoft or CDPR, but time will tell. The game looks fun and I hope PS5 owners have some fun looking at the environments like I enjoyed the City 17 preview for Half Life Alyx.

@Jaxx420 yeah xbox have been doing it for as along as playstation and are especially worse when it comes to timed exclusives such as tomb raider, pubg, Blair witch and now the medium

Honestly, I don't even care if it's PS5 exclusive as you can't find either console to buy at the moment.
You'd think Capcom would want their demo on as many platforms as possible to maximise sales, rather than just the 15 real people out there who actually managed to buy a next-gen console before the scalpers got them.

Actually you can buy and Xbox Series X pretty easily on e-bay in the U.K for around £500, there are around 3500 consoles, so the scalpers have saturated their own market.
As more PS5 stock appears the same will happen, there are only so many consoles that can be listed for £750 plus.
@johnvboy I'll have to take a look, I didn't even consider checking eBay as I assumed they'd still all be £900+! 😅 It's good to know the scalpers have scored another own goal.

Before Christmas it was pretty much impossible to buy either next generation machine for under £699, which is too high, I have the money but it's the principle.
Paying around £50 more is still not right, but I can live with that, and after e-bay fees etc the scalper is not making too much on the deal.
@UltimateOtaku91 I totally agree, though I would amend to say die hard fans (regardless of system) do it. I would then extend to say this is not unique to video games.
People don't like to see the faults in their own side (whatever that may be) but are all too keen to point out the faults or celebrate the failures of their "enemies".
Thanks to various internet echo chambers this feels like it's only exacerbated in the last couple decades
@XBontendo yeah you're right and tbh I think it's got worse ever since both playstation and xbox have both gone all out in securing full exclusives and timed exclusives and exclusive dlc and demos
One day its going to end up with every developer being exclusive to different consoles
@UltimateOtaku91 that’s kind of how it was in the Sega/SNES days and even into PS1 era. Lest we forget RE 4 was supposed to be a GameCube exclusive. However, I don’t actually see full exclusivity ever happening again, games cost too much to make and PC is a lot more popular than it was. Instead it’s stupid things like Demos and modes.
