CD Projekt Red has announced today that the critically acclaimed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is officially coming to Xbox Series X, and will be available at no extra charge for owners on Xbox One.
The next-gen edition of the game will feature various visual and technical improvements including ray tracing and faster loading times, and this will be applied to the base game, both expansions and all extra content.
You'll also be able to pick up the game standalone on Xbox Series X if you don't own it already. There's no official date for the next-gen version as of yet, but we'll keep you updated when we learn more.

Fantastic news. I'm replying the Witcher 3 now in advance of Cyberpunk 2077 so perhaps I should have waited but oh well. It'd an absolutely amazing game and glad it'll run even better on the Series X.
Already completed on both ps4 and switch over the last two years but will probably play on ps5 in a couple years time
Going to get at cex (2nd hand) today and won't pay until the upgrade is out
This is when I say, Thank you CD Projekt for not being like other publishers such as Nintendo .
@BlueOcean I feel guilty for getting it 2nd hand now!
@Porridge2215 😆. If you are interested, you can always buy Cyberpunk (same publisher).
@BlueOcean Day 1 !
I'll finish this game on Series X. I haven't gotten that far into the story, but it is a very good game.
Been sat in my backlog since launch and I was looking to play it very soon once i’ve finished Witcher II through Xbox BC.
I think i’ll just wait and play the upgraded version for free now 😂😂
Take a note 505 Games wanting their players to double dip on control! Great move by CDPR!
Awesome news - My game of the Generation (so far) and this gives me a reason to revisit it...
CD Projekt Red does it again. 👍🏻
Playing the Witcher 3 right now, Maybe i should of waited.. CD Project Red is killing it..
@Jacko11 was interested to get Witcher 2. I’ve completed 3 on the PS4 Pro. How does Witcher 2 compare to Witcher 3?
Poland is now the only place in the world that's not backward.
@Cyrus29 I probably should have said “started and finished” as haven’t quite got to it yet.
From asking around before buying, i’ve been told it is still very good and although greatly improved on with 3, is still a solid game.
@Jacko11 Thanks for getting back to me. I’m been going through getting loads of 360 games on the one s. Saw that there was a Witcher 2, wanted to find out if it was good. I really enjoyed Witcher 3, so I was interested to see if part 2 was worth picking up.
Ok, this is amazing and all, but I really hope this applies to the original base game and NOT just the Complete Edition. I beat the story and dlc already and do not wanna start over... I still have side quests and stuff to do though.
@Cyrus29 i’d just go for it tbh. I’m nit sure if the prices now but I got it a few weeks back when it was like £2.
If its cheap its worth a go
@Jacko11 cheers buddy👍🏻. Will do.
Normally hate playing a 3rd game without going through first ones. Borderlands, mass effect, halo, others, played or playing through all those from start to finish (way after the last part was released)
For some reason, I'm perfectly happy to jump in at 3 (GOTY) maybe cos it seems to be the first big XSX game I'll play that has ray tracing etc.
