One of the best games on the PlayStation 4 is undoubtedly Horizon Zero Dawn, and developer Guerrilla Games recently ported the title to PC - available on the Steam platform.
For those of us Xbox fans who have never tried it, it's got a really cool feature in the form of native Xbox controller support, including control mapping which you can see in the image below:
Let's not get ahead of ourselves - we're not expecting Horizon Zero Dawn to ever make its way to an Xbox platform - but nevertheless this is definitely a great addition for the PC players amongst us.
Have you been playing Horizon Zero Dawn on PC recently? Let us know in the comments below.

Weird. I was at work cleaning today and I think about things because it's boring and repetitive, and one of those thoughts was can pc users use an Xbox one controller for Horizon zero dawn.
Nice touch by Guerilla. Game is terrific, definitely recommend it if you haven't played before and I'm sure it looks amazing on a PC!
Not sure why this is news, this has been a mandate since Windows 10 launched. They literally HAVE to do it.
@Royalblues Yes. Xbox controller support is built native into windows 10, regardless of what store you're using. Which is why it's more newsworthy when a game has support for anything other than KB/M + xbox. Very few games include Playstation or Switch layouts.
The Xbox controller is my favorite game pad for a PC. It actually makes gaming on my PC tolerable (keyboard and mouse have never really been my thing). If I do buy this game, I'll play it with the Xbox controller.
@Menchi Yeah, I'm kinda surprised this is an article at all.
Maybe the writer doesn't really play on PC.
That's awesome, I wish the game supported simultaneous gamepad/MK input to use Steam Controller.
Enjoying the game again and this time I get to play Frozen Wilds. But man, the performance is agonizing. Guerilla Games are working on it, thankfully.
So Horizon fans finally get to play the game with a decent controller now? Lol.
Sorry.....I had to say it. Low hanging fruit. š
@Menchi that would explain why they didnāt care about swapping the confirm/cancel keys for people in japan.
On PS4 O is confirm, X is cancel/exit (opposite of rest of the world).
So what happened now is that in HZD B is confirm and A is cancel.
All other games Iāve played so far that also exist on PS4 set the XBox Controller mapping correct to Xbox standards, but not HZD.
Btw, Nintendo is also world wide A = confirm, B = cancel.
Itās just that Japanese use the O (maru) and X (batsu) a lot in everyday life.
@Menchi because even if controller is suported doesn't mean in game icons layouts have to change, they could have gone with something generic like a white circle icon to display the corresponding button position to press, but they actually show the 'A', 'B', 'RT', 'LT' buttons and so on. That means the studio gave attention to this fiture insted of using a half-baked generic support
@tatsumi but, Nintendo physically swap A and B on their controller.
@tatsumi This is not the case with PS4 anymore. All recent games use the Cross (X) button to confirm, the Circle (O) to cancel.
@Menchi At the same time, do you often hear of a PC player saying "Oh I wish I could use a PS4 controller"? Very rare. I hear it more for Switch than PS4 which personally I think Switch Pro Controller is a better controller than the PS4...but that's just me. In the end though, I still game on PC with a XB360 controller...cause it just works...no bs.
Superb game. Does it also have Nintendo pro controller support? Thatās become my favourite controller out of all of them!
@skaarj217 I am talking about Japan.
All games except for very few (e.g. Fall Guys, some indies) from the Japanese PSN use Circle to confirm and Cross to cancel. This also applies to the PS4. Japanese are trained to see Cross as "No, Cancel" and Circle as "Yes, Confirm". Swapping that suddenly in Japan will just make it look super weird for them. Its like you train every human to see a Red traffic light as "Don't walk" and Green as "Walk". But then you suddenly swap it.
I am already used to using A = Confirm and B = Cancel when holding an XBox Controller and O = Confirm and X = Cancel when holding a PS4 controller. But with HZD on PC, holding an Xbox controller with B = Confirm and A = Cancel, just fried my synapses. They literally just ported over the japanese PS4 controls and changed the images to Xbox controllers.
