You might remember that back in May, screenshots appeared online of an upcoming Lord of the Rings game centred around Gollum, and now its first trailer also been unveiled courtesy of IGN.
The game is targeting a next-gen and PC release, and is described by lead game designer Martin Wilkes as "similar to Prince of Persia," mixing stealth with vertical climbing parkour.
As for its story, lead narrative designer Tilman Schanen explained to the outlet that the game will begin "parallel to the first book when Frodo is still in the Shire and knows nothing about anything."
"Gollum at that time ventures to Mordor still desperately looking for Bilbo Baggins and the Ring. Unfortunately, he gets caught by Sauron’s servants and this is basically where our story begins."
There's no release date for this one as of yet outside of 2021, but we'll be keeping a close eye on it.

I'll only be interested if Andy Serkis returns. One of the best performances of all time imo.
I cannot wait to play this one! Stealth, and a Lord of The Rings story hardly explored? Sounds great to me!
Always interested in Lord of the Rings game.
Tolkien created large gaps in the history of Middle-earth so readers could fill in stories from their own imagination. He was a firm believer that filling in each detail himself would remove the creative process readers have.
I get having familiar characters can help sell copies but this seems to just spit on Tolkien's memory. Stop creating these games that bend/change the War of the Ring. Do something unique.
