Bungie has announced more details on next-gen versions of Destiny 2 in its "next chapter" livestream, which also revealed that the Destiny 2: Beyond Light expansion will be released in September.
In regards to the Xbox Series X version, the company confirmed that the game will run at 4K, 60fps on the new console, and will also feature inter-generational cross-play within the Xbox eco-system, meaning you'll be able to play Destiny 2 multiplayer across Xbox One and Xbox Series X with no issues.
Furthermore, the company explained that Destiny 2 will support Smart Delivery when it's released for Xbox Series X (it didn't provide a date), meaning Xbox One players of the game will be able to upgrade to the Xbox Series X version at no charge, and all content and expansions will be carried across as well.
Looking forward to playing Destiny 2 on Xbox Series X? Let us know below.

At no charge? Isn't it free to play?
@Menchi The base version is, yeah. I'm assuming it'll remain that way (they didn't say anything about this), but any content you own will carry over at no extra charge.
I guess this means, all the DLC you bought already will still apply under the upgraded XSX version.
I’m glad to see more devs support smart delivery.
@zane547 curious how they are implementing it, technically. But being a server based game they could just be unlocking content for PS5 players if they got the PS4 version.
