Sonic Games Are Now Releasing More Slowly For Quality Reasons

In a recent livestream on the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel, social media manager Aaron Webber was asked a question about when new information or a trailer would be revealed for an upcoming Sonic game.

In response, Webber revealed that Sega made a conscious effort a few years ago to put more time into its Sonic projects moving forward, ultimately meaning fans would have to wait longer for new info:

"Back in the day, it used to be like every year there was a new Sonic game. And as a result of that, there were a number of times when because of that rushed production schedule, the quality of the games wouldn't quite be where they really kind of needed to be. So, a couple of years ago, a few years ago, we actually said hey, that's going to change going forward and we're going to put more time into things. And that's going to mean that you have to wait longer between trailers or announcements and stuff like that, and we know that's kind of annoying sometimes when you just really want news."

Following this, Webber teased the existence of a brand-new Sonic game, but refrained from giving any specific information away, thanking fans for their patience in the process.

"But that's where we are now, and we think that the patience hopefully will be worth it in the end, and we're really excited for what's to come, but we can't really say anything right now. So thank you for being patient, and as soon as we have news or anything to share with you, we absolutely will share it with you."
