It's safe to say that the Assassin's Creed Valhalla "first look gameplay trailer" released earlier today hasn't gone down well with a sizeable portion of fans. It has far more dislikes than likes on its official Xbox YouTube video at the time of writing, and a significant number of negative comments.
What's it all about? Well, the video (which you can see above) isn't an actual gameplay demo, but an "in-game first look teaser" as confirmed by Creative Director Ashraf Ismail on Twitter.

Xbox has stated that the footage in the video is "representative of Xbox Series X gameplay," but that hasn't prevented fans from feeling underwhelmed and misled by what was shown. "In what world does this count as gameplay?", questioned one user over on YouTube, with many comments along the same lines.
What did you think of the Assassin's Creed gameplay trailer? Let us know in the comments.

I don't know what else to say except that, they promised gameplay and this wasn't it. I'm sure the game will look spectacular, but I'm still disappointed by Ubisoft's lack of clarity. In-game cinematics are NOT gameplay.
Tbh, it's comical that the trailer didn't have gameplay right after the presenter said it was gameplay.
Also, seeing Damon Baker was kind of cool. He was one of the better presenters for NOA.
@IronMan30
I wish I had your sense of humor. 😤
yeah that wasn't gameplay, i'm sure it was in engine but gameplay is actually someone playing the game not a trailer showing in engine footage
they promised us ACTUAL gameplay, that's a person sat down playing the game and we didn't get that, in fact most of the games shown didn't have gameplay just cinematic set pieces
the whole event/stream felt like it missed the mark honestly, i don't know if it's because of the lockdown but they promised us more than they delivered
although the guy using the Series X Fridge pic as a background was brilliant
@gingataisen as a Nintendo fan since the N64, I have grown accustomed to a game company trolling me. When people asked for Game Boy in color Nintendo manufactured new colors of Game Boy and joked that it's in color. I stopped getting mad at some things after a while.
Unless PlayStation shows something this is the most any of the companies have shown. not perfect but better than nothing.
@FullbringIchigo
I disagree entirely. Everything, from the impressive one-man developed Bright Memory, to Bamco's Astral Chainesque Scarlet Nexus, was a continuous parade of exciting and varied games to look forward to. A lot of 60fps gameplay, too. The hair in the soup of course, was Ubisoft. They went from hero to zero quite fast, but not enough to bring the entire show down.
@gingataisen oh don't get me wrong there were some interesting looking games shown off, some now firmly on my radar such as the aforementioned scarlet nexus but MS were bulling this up as a gameplay blowout but that isn't what we got, what we got was trailers that showed off the in game graphics and various set pieces but we never saw a person sit down with the controller playing any of the games and the last time i checked that's what a gameplay reveal is meant to be
That's why i think it was disappointing
If you lie, you're gonna get called out on it.
Absolutely baffled they tried billing it as this
Have to admit I was disappointed. Some interesting looking games but nothing that really screamed next gen at me. Assassin’s Creed should have been a high note to end on but the trailer was awfully cut, almost like it was hiding the gameplay rather than showing it off. I’m still excited for the game but I hoped to see a lot more of it than we did today.
@FullbringIchigo
Fair enough.
Assassin’s Creed was the most disappointing game of the show, by far. There were some really interesting games shown, & some of them are Xbox exclusives. But Ubisoft laid an egg here.
Well, as a show of gameplay it wasn't that great, as there was no game play at the event. But the games I'm interested in lots of them.
My favorites were Bright Memory, Call of the sea, Bloodlines 2, The medium and Dirt 5.
AC Valhalla still day one for me despite lack of gameplay content.
I am a bit disappointed overall by the livestream for series x. I’m sure I will scoop it up eventually- and Valhalla along side it- but this press conference did nothing to entice me.
