We already know it's possible to play Super Mario Bros. on Kinect, but what about something a bit more suited to the sensor's purpose? While Rare did an admirable job of translating the sweet science in its Kinect Sports boxing mode, coder Dan Dockery has brought classic NES fighter Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! (also known as Punch-Out!! featuring Mr Dream due to licensing issues) to Kinect.
For those who've never played Punch-Out!!, it's a simplistic boxing game based on reading your opponent's attack patterns and striking at the correct time; it's more a test of memory and reflexes than anything else, and now thanks to Kinect it has an extra element of physicality to it.
Dodging, punching and special moves are all executed with body movements with a surprising degree of accuracy, though Dockery notes that there are still some tweaks to be made. You'll get the picture within a minute of watching the video, but it really gets going once it speeds up, trust us.
