How To Buy Daytona USA On Xbox One, Series X And Series S

Want to know how to buy Daytona USA on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and/or Xbox Series S? It's a question we see popping up all the time, and the solution also applies to a variety of other backwards compatible Xbox 360 games — so if you can't find a game digitally on the Microsoft Store, this might help you.

Seemingly for licensing reasons, Daytona USA isn't available to purchase directly from the store on modern consoles, so you have to use a workaround and access the old Xbox 360 marketplace. You can do this on an actual Xbox 360 if you want to (the easiest method), or you can navigate to the old marketplace on an internet browser instead.

Here's exactly how to buy Daytona USA on Xbox One, Series X and Series S using the old store:

  1. Go to the Daytona USA page on the Xbox 360 marketplace
  2. Locate the 'Full Game' option, and then select 'Download to Xbox 360'
  3. Pay for the game, and you should then find it in your games library on a modern Xbox

If you want to find a different game, try searching "[Game Name] Xbox 360 marketplace" in Google. Make sure it's part of the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility list before attempting to purchase it though. If you can't find what you're looking for, it most likely no longer exists on the marketplace in any form due to licensing issues.

You may run into a common issue when doing this, in which you hit 'Download to Xbox 360' but all you get is a pop-up window with an endless loading circle. Firstly, we suggest trying as many different browsers as possible to see if the problem goes away (this solved it for us). Bizarrely, we've also found that the US version of the website works better than the British version — although this may cause an issue when it comes to payment and region-locked games.

As a final resort, a Reddit user actually created their own script to bypass this issue a couple of years ago, but it's quite old and has since been archived. We have no idea whether this still works as of December 2021, so needless to say it's something that's only worth trying at your own risk, and we can't vouch for it ourselves.

Hopefully you'll soon be able to play Daytona USA (or whatever else you have in mind) on your newer Xbox console!
