The return of Magic: The Gathering

So you're browsing your local retailer's Xbox One and Xbox 360 section and have no idea what new games were released this week. No one seems willing to help and you feel alone and scared. Surely, there must be a way — an easy way — to get the info on the latest releases. Rest your worried head young Spartan, because at pX we got you covered on what's hitting retail stores and the Games Store.

Magic 2015: Duels of the Planeswalkers (XBLA)

Magic: The Gathering is back — and while this new version still retains much of what the fans loved, Magic 2015 brings with it one major and dangerous inclusion: Garruk Wildspeaker, the deadliest hunter in the Multiverse. New features in this long-loved card-battling series include the ability to build your own card collection to create any style of deck you want as well as taking these decks for battle online. If you're new to Magic, this one is said to be a great starting point.

Abyss Odyssey (XBLA)

Inspired by Art Nouveau, Abyss Odyssey is a side-scrolling action adventure with procedurally generated levels making each playthrough different and unpredictable, even enemy locations. The combat engine is all about stringing combos and chaining attacks to survive but later on your warriors will be able to possess enemies too. This one sounds intriguing and we can't wait to give this one a whirl.

Despite this being another slow week for both Xbox platforms, we're going to give the beautifully-stylized Abyss Odyssey a try. If we're being truly honest though, we feel like we're simply killing time until we get to explore the world of Destiny next week in the beta. Make sure you go through the proper channels to land a beta code for yourself and join in on the firefight with us.

I'm hoping to review Abyss Odyssey, so if anyone is interested but unsure of whether or not it's worth the dough, wait about a week. I should have my words together by then.
