As you may have read elsewhere today, GTA 6 has just received a massive 14-page cover story over at Game Informer, and anyone who signs up to the Game Informer app on Android and iOS is getting access to it for free.
We highly recommend going and reading the full thing for yourself, but just to whet your appetite in the meantime, we've picked out a handful of notable things we've learned about the game from the write-up.
There are absolutely tons more in the full article, but here are five that particularly caught our interest:
- It features Rockstar's biggest map ever - twice as large as GTA 5, and more "dense, detailed and interactive".
- The six primary regions in the game are Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.
- The weather system has been re-engineered "to make everything much more localised and persistent" - this even means you could have sun in one area of the map and rain in another. There's also an updated wind system, dynamic cloudscapes, tropical storms and hurricanes, and rainbows under the "right lighting conditions".
- The game features over 170 animal species, including over 60 bird types and more than 30 land mammals. Expect manatees, flamingos, pelicans, alligators, feral cats and armadillos along the way. Animals also display iridescence, bioluminescence, translucency and feather types, plus fully simulated fur.
- Six-star wanted levels return, but there's also a new Heat system where the police get information on you based on your appearance and whereabouts at a crime scene. This means you might need to change your appearance in order to ditch the cops more successfully.
As mentioned, there's a lot more to check out in the full Game Informer story (including probably another 10 brand-new reveals at least) and it's an absolutely fascinating read if you have any kind of interest in playing GTA 6 next month.
Rockstar has also released a bunch of new screenshots as part of today's reveal, a few of which you can see in the X post down below. Again though, you'll find the entire selection in the full Game Informer piece.
