Following last week's slate of new features and updates for the ROG Xbox Ally, we've got even more improvements today in the form of 28 games that have received new optimisations via Default Game Profiles.

If you recall, Default Game Profiles were first announced back in November 2025 for around 40 games, and now these 28 are being added to the pile. The idea is that you don't have to rely on in-game settings alone to get the best performance and battery life, as the default profiles will help optimise these games for your handheld, taking control of things like the Operating Mode and FPS Limiter to give you the most suitable experience.

Here's a bit more about them:

"Default Game Profiles make games run better when on battery by setting Thermal Design Power (TDP) limits and framerate (FPS) limits to balance performance and battery life that go beyond what titles can achieve via in-game settings alone.

Though these per-game settings are distributed via an Xbox service to the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X gaming handhelds, they are ultimately applied by ASUS’s software and services that come preinstalled with every device."

The list of 28 games with new Default Game Profiles for the ROG Xbox Ally is as follows:

So, as you can see here, games like Starfield, GTA V and Forza Horizon 6 should automatically utilise these Default Game Profiles to provide an optimised experience on the Ally, although you can also turn the feature off and customise all the settings yourself if you want to.

The one exception to the rule is if you're playing any of these outside of the Xbox PC app — it's said that Default Game Profiles are "per-game device settings for games sold through the Xbox Store on PC", and therefore you shouldn't expect them to work with other storefronts such as Steam.

There's apparently more to come with this feature at some point down the line, so we'll keep an eye out for any other titles that might get added later in 2026. In the meantime, let us know what you think of Default Game Profiles below!
