Wasteland 3 launched last year and was a fantastic reminder of classic RPGs in the vein of the original Fallout games. It featured a lengthy campaign, and was a treat for fans of the genre. Now, inXile Entertainment has announced its first expansion, The Battle of Steeltown, will be releasing on June 3 for $13.99.
The expansion will be available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, adding new locations, quests, gear, and "twists" to the combat system. You'll be tasked to assist in Steeltown, as things have recently been going wrong for its inhabitants.
"The Battle of Steeltown is a narrative expansion to the core game of Wasteland 3—slotting into the game’s story and adding new locations, quests, gear, and adding new twists to our tactical combat. Steeltown sits as the manufacturing hub of Colorado, and the Patriarch—the region’s self-proclaimed ruler—relies on Steeltown to keep him in power.
It’s responsible for keeping his guns firing and his vehicles running, but lately things have been … wrong. Shipments are arriving late, with the wrong items, or are just outright missing, and with the Plains Gangs threatening his sovereignty these aren’t problems he can just hope will fix themselves. That’s where you and the Rangers come in."
If you're interested in Wasteland 3, it's available as part of Xbox Game Pass, and provides hours upon hours of RPG content for you to lose yourself in. It also features a tactical combat system reminiscent of games such as XCOM, so make sure you've got your thinking cap on to get through some tough challenges.
For those who have already finished the game, no doubt the new expansion will deliver some thrills and evolution to the combat that will be exciting to try out.
