Rejoice! It appears that the ability to change your Xbox gamerpic is returning to the Xbox app on both iOS and Android.
As spotted by one eagle eyed Reddit user, a recent update to the Xbox Beta app has added the function to change your gamer picture. According to the patch notes, users will be able to set their gamerpic with custom images on the phone itself or from a selection in the library.
Other new features also include improved chat functions to ensure players can view message requests within the app and the ability to view and manage all your games remotely. No word has been mentioned as to when owners of the app outside the beta can expect these to roll out.
While this is definitely a step in the right direction, there's still a lot more we'd like to see introduced to the Xbox app. A full achievement tracker, looking for group feature, activity feed, and more would all be greatly welcomed in the future.

Screw that, bring back the store.
My gamerpic is a tiny monkey because I had it on the 360 and never updated it. It's just a tiny pic in the center of a large circle. I thought about changing it but I can't see a new one I like on the menu
“Soon be able to change it with the app” this was already a feature before the app was updated because it’s how I changed mine
Removing the achievement tracker was blasphemy. I have no idea what the ?!$& they were thinking.
I don't know what Microsoft was thinking, but the list of things missing since they "improved" the app is staggering.
I’m glad a feature is back can we work on the others ?!? >.<
I had to uninstall current version and download the older apk to revert back.
I love keyboard auto opening when I am in edit box with in a chatting screen.
I also like to attach pictures using app attachment feature which is missing in new one
Definitely need the Xbox store back on the app for on the go purchases.
