Publisher SEGA and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have announced today that the release of Yakuza: Like a Dragon has been brought forward to November 10th on Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X (via Gematsu).
This now makes the game a launch title on the next-gen systems, although interestingly there's no word on whether this will affect other versions of the game - those interested in the the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows 10, and PlayStation 5 versions (some of which had previously been announced for November 13th) have all been told to "stay tuned for more release information on all platforms in the coming weeks.”
If you want to pre-order the game, which supports Smart Delivery on Xbox, it's available digitally on the Microsoft Store in three different versions - the standard Day Ichi Digital Edition, a Hero Edition and a Legendary Hero Edition.
Become Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking yakuza grunt left on the brink of death by the man he trusted most. Take up your legendary bat and get ready to crack some underworld skulls in dynamic RPG combat set against the backdrop of modern-day Japan in Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

Does the release difference affect the Windows Store version on PC or just the Steam release? This might be the first Yakuza game I don’t play on Playstation at this rate!
@nessisonett Honestly not sure. Those who have reached out to SEGA are apparently being told they'll talk about other versions soon.
So who knows!
I don't know if I'll be playing it in November, too many awesome games at once! 😣
I'll be buying it, though! EVEN if it's on GamePass, I'm getting this one to adorn my shelves 🤓
Technical question team Xbox.
I pre order and pre down load assassins creed on my Xbox one x external hard drive.
I get my series x day one and plug in the external hard drive, copy game to internal series x drive.
As I now have what was an Xbox one game will it require a quick patch for series x enhancements etc.
Or will I have to re-download the full new series x version???
I don’t think this has been truly answered.
@Dezzy70 Because of Smart Delivery, I expect that the Series X/S version will be different than the Xbox One version.
@BlueOcean
That’s what I was thinking.
I will wait and down load all on the series x on release day.
@Dezzy70 If you can get the console a little bit earlier you can download the game before it releases because you pre-ordered it.
@BlueOcean
We would love the console earlier but don’t think that will happen.
Guess I’m going to have a mega upload week when I get the series x on release day.
@Dezzy70 Earlier I mean one day if it's shipped but you pre-ordered at Game so I think you mean a physical shop (if they are open). I think that everybody interested in getting Series S and X this year should pre-order.
@BlueOcean
I see, yes it will be shipped it always seems easier at the moment.
Imagine a sudden shop lock down due to Covid on a midnight launch. I am not risking that.
@Dezzy70 If it's shipped you might get a Series X one day earlier! Also, I'm happy to see you more positive about next-gen Xbox now .
Great news! Hopefully we'll get Yakuza 3-6 in the future too.
@BlueOcean
Well Microsoft seem to be pulling next generation together really well and it seems certain games although a little way off will be series s/x only now.
The 10th can’t come soon enough.
@Dezzy70 That's right, only Halo Infinite has been re-confirmed to be an Xbox One title since July's show so it seems that Xbox Game Studios are focused on next-gen games.
@BlueOcean
I also think maybe depending on how the series s/x sell and how long Halo is going to take. It may not end up on the Xbox one.
@Dezzy70 That's a possibility that 70% of PureXbox readers would like 😁.
@BlueOcean
Glad you remembered the percentage vote.
Which being honest I was surprised was so high.
What really matters is that we get an amazing Halo gameplay and game wise,
And of course with some magical series x touches 😌
@Dezzy70 Yeah, it's going to be great, I believe.
