SEGA has confirmed today that Yakuza: Like A Dragon will launch for Xbox One on November 13th and for Xbox Series X on day one of the console's release, suggesting the next-gen system won't be with us any earlier than that date.
You can check out the new trailer for the game above, which is also currently available to pre-order digitally on the Microsoft Store in three versions - the standard Day Ichi Digital Edition, a Hero Edition and a Legendary Hero Edition.
In regards to the Xbox Series X launch, SEGA is currently saying nothing other than the game will be available "on day one of its release," and that the PS5 version will be coming "at a later date" (thanks Destructoid).
There are no confirmations here, but it's been rumoured previously that November 6th could be the release date for the system, which now doesn't appear likely following this announcement. A simultaneous launch on November 13th sounds very possible however, so hopefully we'll get some definitive answers from Microsoft in the near future.

Yakuza has been consistently good for a while, now. Can't wait to play this on Series X.
Also, I wonder how pushsquare will (or if it will) cover this one. Lol
The Medium also launches November 3rd on PC, so that's another potential date.
@IronMan30
They’ll probably act like the Yakuza series is rubbish until it makes it’s way back to PlayStation. 😉😂
And a November 13th release date sounds about right. 👍🏻
Never played a Yakuza game before, I might give this a go..
So Sony go and pay to have a random character included in a game and Microsoft have (probably) paid for timed exclusivity on a patch.
All getting a bit much of a muchness eh? Haha.
Game looks good though, curious to see how the turn-based gameplay fits in with the general feel of the games.
@Jaxx420 I’m super excited for the turn based elements. It looks like it’s still “quick” even being turned based, and from what I saw you don’t go into battle screens. I could be mistaken on the last bit.
Cool. The Yakuza series is fun, but the repetitive combat gets tiresome after a while. Really happy they're opting for something turn-based this time around.
@KelticDevil ??? Yakuza isn't ditching Playstation, and the PS4 version will be fully playable on PS5.
I might finally subscribe to gamepass ultimate to play Yakuza 0, Kiwami & Kiwami 2..
@Bmartin001 they are well worth playing, though it's worth noting zero and one start real slow, once they pick up speed they are great.
@PretendWorking I was just poking fun at pushsquare, more than anything. They're keen on acting like everything outside of Sony systems don't exist. Tbf, it doesn't make me look better to critize them when it's not fair or accurate.
@Menchi
Where did you find that date?
Steam still says Holiday 2020.
@blinx01 The preorder discount, which stops upon release on every game in history, ends on November 3rd.

Like A Dragon will be one.

More than likely all PS4 games will be compatible at launch. The top 100 games thing was just about what games will be tested on the hardware by launch.
@Ralizah Actually not entirely true.
The 100 most-played PS4 titles were tested to run on PS5 boost mode (instead of PS4 and PS4 Pro legacy modes). That means they run with the power of the PS5 instead of being locked to the same as the PS4/PS4 Pro performance.
This basically means those games may get additional framerate and resolution bumps (e.g. when dynamic resolution is used, you would see the PS5 bc run at a higher resolution. If you previously saw frame rate drops on PS4 Pro, you shouldn't have them on PS5 running on bc). Sony is testing which PS4 games have no issue running with additional power via BC.
All other games will simply run in a PS4 or PS4 Pro mode on the PS5.
@tatsumi Ah, that's what I meant. They discuss that in the article I linked.
It'll be interesting to see how PS4 and XSeX compare when it comes to boosted last-gen games.
I got into Yakuza with Yakuza 0’s release on Game Pass. I can’t wait for this game to come out.
