What a month it's been for Xbox Game Pass! Microsoft has really spoiled us over the past few weeks, adding no less than 18 (!) titles to the service, with the vast majority of those brand-new releases.
It all kicked off back on August 6th with a batch of six games including Darksiders Genesis, Trailmakers and The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan, followed by the long-awaited Final Fantasy VII HD on August 13th - not the remake, but nevertheless a beloved and very welcome addition to Game Pass.
This was followed up on August 18th with the arrival of Microsoft Flight Simulator for PC subscribers, which we described in our review as "nothing short of revolutionary, featuring an almost impossibly large, authentic and living open world that's bound to take your breath away."
Cosy management game Spiritfarer was also shadow dropped that same day, and we received four more additions on August 20th including another major first-party release in the form of Battletoads, followed by New Super Lucky's Tale on August 21st - replacing the older version of the platformer.
And finally, we've been to treated to five fantastic brand-new releases over the past few days, highlighted by Dontnod Entertainment's Tell Me Why: Chapter One along with InXile Entertainment's critically-acclaimed Wasteland 3.
Looking ahead to September, we already know of a few titles heading to Xbox Game Pass including Crusader Kings III (for PC), Touhou Luna Nights, Hotshot Racing and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, not to mention the arrival of Game Pass game streaming via Project xCloud on September 15th, but for now, we just want to know your favourite August Xbox Game Pass additions in the poll and comments below.

Best service right now 🙌
Battletoads has been the most fun I’ve had. Not saying it’s my goty or anything. But I’ve had good, Saturday morning cartoon fun and have played it multiple times already (single player and coop). It’s given me some of my favorite gaming moments of the year easily.
Flight simulator I also had but I don’t actually own it. I’ve instead watched some people flying and it’s been a really cool experience.
I have played so much Undermine, it’s insane.
If you enjoy those addictive roguelikes such as Binding of Isaac or Spelunky... this is a must play.
I was really invested in Battletoads and New Super Lucky's Tale last week. This week I'm really invested in Tell Me Why and Wasteland 3. It's insane to me that I'm playing a game like Wasteland 3 on Game Pass that otherwise costs full price as a separate release. It's such a massive game too, I literally spent half an hour going through my characters and contemplating on which skills, attributes and perks to upgrade, lol. The gameplay loop is seriously addicting as well, I absolutely adore strategy RPGs like this.
I've been enjoying Wasteland 3 so much that it might actually become my GOTY. I've enjoyed other games on GP as well but it's the level of depth that this game offers that makes it special to me compared to the rest.
If I had a gaming PC I would of no doubt have voted for Flight Simulator, but alas I don’t. To my own surprise then, I voted for New Super Lucky’s tale, which I have enjoyed a lot more than expected. Honourable mention to Wasteland 3, which so far is really good but seeing as it was only released 2 days ago I’ve only put in an hour or so so far.
New super lucky's tale and battletoads are the next game pass games I'm gonna play. Right now I'm immersed in Hollow Knight, also on Game Pass, but I'm looking forward to playing the other two
Game Pass just keeps getting better & better.
Watelands 3 was just released but it is one of Game Pass highlights, no doubt.
Absolutely Battletoads has been my favorite so far. Such a fantastic game. I am still currently playing it at this moment.
I haven’t tried them yet but my top picks to play are: Spiritfarer ( I love when my Nintendo wishlist games come to Gamepass!), Tell Me Why, and Wasteland 3. Eventually I’ll get to play them!
Deep rock galactic a great solo or multiplayer game. The randoms I've played with, have been on the better side of partners, than most. Also, risk of rain 2. Sinking an hour+ in a run is quite easy. Not on gamepass, but these games are definitely worth a look.
@John_Deacon I just finished Battletoads and have started New Super Lucky's Tale today! You won't regret it!
@LtSarge
Would you recommend playing the other Wasteland games before 3? I'm downloading the latter as I type this because it looks great. The other two games never caught my interest but if it's imperative to the story I'll play those first.
Battletoads and New Super Luckys Tail have been the highlights for me, but plenty other great game's as you have mentioned.. I think we have been spoilt for choice this month..
@Gamer83 I don't know much about the other games since I'm new to the franchise as well, but what I do know is that these are stand-alone experiences so you don't need to play the other ones before the third one. I also know that the first Wasteland is a game from the late 80s and Wasteland 2 is apparently a 100 hour experience, so playing those might not give off the best first impressions of the series. Also, Wasteland 3 apparently has improved upon the gameplay so that it feels more streamlined and better for beginners to the series. In any case, from what I've played so far I highly recommend giving it a go!
@LtSarge
Thanks. The download is complete so I'll be starting a playthrough sometime today.
I have yet to launch half of these games, but I like Drake Hollow and New Super Lucky's Tale... and LOVE the peacful pace of Spiritfarer so far. Highly recommended.
