The co-creator of the original Xbox, Rob Wyatt, has sued Atari for a lack of payment relating to work on the upcoming Atari VCS console, VentureBeat has reported. Wyatt is said to have filed a lawsuit via his company, Tin Giant, and the company has suggested it's owed over $250,000.

The Atari VCS has been slated to be released for some time, originally receiving a 2019 release date, but as of yet, it's yet to hit the market. It was most recently scheduled to be released this Spring, but the company later indicated the coronavirus had affected its plans.

According to the report, it was mentioned in the lawsuit that Atari claimed Tin Giant was the reason behind the console's delay, while Tin Giant suggested "it was Atari's own mismanagement of the console project that was the cause of or reason for the delayed launch."

The CEO of Atari, Fred Chesnais, declined to comment in a statement to VentureBeat, saying he hasn't received a copy of the lawsuit yet.
