Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 28th)

If there's one upside to the boredom induced by self-isolation during the coronavirus pandemic, it's that we finally have time to dig into our Xbox backlogs and explore some great games. There are a bunch of free titles on offer this weekend as well, so let us know if you'll be taking advantage in the comments below.

As I mentioned in the Pure Xbox forums the other day, I've been trying to get into Kingdom Hearts III. The problem? I've never played any of the others, and the backstory is confusing to say the least. The complexity of the narrative intrigues me though, and I'm really enjoying the gameplay so far. Additionally, the recent arrival of Disney Plus in the UK is making me want to play it even more.

I've also rediscovered the joys of original Xbox backwards compatibility on Xbox 360 recently. I've been playing past favourites such as Burnout 3: Takedown, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 and Pro Evolution Soccer 5, and they're just as much fun as they ever were. Now if only they'd turn the online servers back on...

One game that really needs my attention this weekend is Ninja Theory's Bleeding Edge. I've seen so much cool footage of it across various social channels this week, it's about time I gave it a go. Thanks, Xbox Game Pass! I'm also planning to set sail in Sea of Thieves to celebrate its second anniversary. Maybe I'll finally buy a pet bird or monkey and drop some coin on that Joanna Dark figurehead.

This weekend I’ll be jumping into Bleeding Edge to see how Ninja Theory’s online brawler compares to other offerings in the genre - I’m loving what I’ve seen of the art style so far and have pretty high hopes for this one. Elsewhere, I’m going to be getting stuck into a couple of other recent Game Pass offerings with the excellent The Surge 2 and Ace Combat 7 top at my list of priorities.

I’ve also noticed Kona sneaking onto Game Pass - a game I reviewed when it first released - and one I highly recommend if you’re looking for a change of pace. With a few more achievements to mop up in Ori and the Will of the Wisps and a hardcore run of Doom Eternal also beckoning, I’ve certainly got plenty to keep me entertained during this ongoing lockdown period. I hope everyone is doing ok out there and staying safe - have a good weekend if you can!
