Phil Spencer has confirmed that the first 100 Xbox 360 games to be added to the Xbox One backwards compatibility list will be announced on November 9th, a few days before the service is launched alongside the new Xbox One dashboard.
Spencer confirmed the date in a Tweet to a user earlier today;-

Wish they'd just tell us now... they must know the full list already... why make us wait?
Me, I'm hoping all the Lego games are in the list and that they find a way to make the old Kinect games work with the new one - then I can finally flog my 360 and make some space under my TV!
Have you seen the trade-in price for a 360 slim! I'm keeping mine now. it can go into hibernation along with my old <ahem> StayPlation consoles and my classic Sega Megadrive LOL
Nope because the only games I care about will never be BC.
I'm hoping the Hitman games make the cut, as well as Red Dead Redemption and I wouldn't mind revisiting Liberty City again in GTA IV. They may as well throw in Halo Reach and Halo Wars so I have every single Halo game on one console.
@Captain_Chao5 Just checked CEX and mine is worth about £50 (I think - there's multiple versions listed). I've got the 500GB one... thought it would be worth more to be honest... but it's more the clutter I want rid of... I've got too much kit under the TV, 360, Xbox One, PS4, Sky box, Blue Ray player, Apple TV, Wii, WiiU, Surround sound amp plus two HDMI switchers and a TOSLink switcher to get all that stuff to work with my TV. I Just want the TV, Xbox One, PS4, WiiU and Sky box so I don't need any switch boxes and all the mess of cables that goes with it. #firstworldproblem lol
I just want to know already. At least one fighting game has to make that list.
To people like me who've just invested in an XB1 but never had a 360, this is very exciting. I appreciate we're not exactly a huge target market, but nevertheless.....
@NaughtyOttsel22 Maybe some of the older Sellout Raider games will make it, mate...
@Red620Ti Didn't know mods were allowed to troll?
Still wouldn't care, all I want is Vesperia, Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon.
Why are they waiting to announce compatible games that were released 5-10 years ago?
@stylon woah I'm jealous of your ET center o.0
You could chunk your bluray player b/c the XB1 does that, the original Wii as the Wiiu is backcompat, and the Apple TV because it's made by Apple and is therefore evil
@A_BabyRed_Yoshi lol - I've actually cut back my kit recently. I used to have an original Xbox, Gamecube, PS3 and a Philips CDI under there as well... the cabling was just insane
@Red620Ti
That was hilarious. Actually made me laugh out loud. Well done.
@electrolite77
This is actually a great thing! I still have my 360, so it may not effect me that much. But it's awesome news for a lot of people. Microsoft doing BC is a win for everybody.
It's better than having to pay ridiculous rental prices on PlayStation Now. Nintendo has had BC on some of their systems, but Microsoft finally doing this is a big coup for them.
I suck at math, but I do have one algebraic formula committed to memory...
Skyrim + Reach + elite controller = a happy Tim
@KelticDevil
It's brilliant that they've pulled it off. I wasn't bothered about the XB1 for a while but MS slowly hooked me in. First the exclusives (Forza Horizon 2 is stunning), then the streaming (I use Off TV Play on Wii U a lot and sometimes Remote Play on PS4/Vita but streaming to my Windows 10 laptop works so well I'll probably buy multiplats on Xbox now!) and now the library of 360 games I missed out on. Looking forward to that list....
Sadly I lent my brother the 360 and never got it back so I am getting excited to see the games from my 360 become compatible with my Xbox one as I had a huge library of 360 games from the past in gaming. Its a shame it couldn't be sooner though as I would have been happier to play some classic red dead or black ops 2 before Black ops 3 on Friday and red dead redemption just being one of my favorite games of all time anyway. I can only pray that they will return for the Xbox one though (fingers crossed).
@ItsaJamisonThing Red Dead is top of my wishlist, too!
@SuperKMx Awesome! Its one of those games I went through countless hours of playing whether it was running across the roofs of trains in solo, murdering tones of zombies in undead nightmare or playing with a bunch of mates riding bulls through armadillo shooting lawmen and wracking up a high bounty.
I'm hoping for Dark Souls. I've read rumours it would be on the service not sure about straight from start though. I started it on PS3 but find the old dualshock so hard to use I'd rather just play on 360!
