It's Christmas time (almost) and Microsoft have announced that they'll be spreading the festive cheer by offering up five - count 'em! - titles via Games With Gold in December.
From December 1st, you'll be able to download The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing (which will be a new release) for Xbox One and CastleStorm on Xbox 360.
From the 16th, you'll get Thief on Xbox One, as well as Sacred 3 and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising on Xbox 360.
Of course, those Xbox 360 titles are all playable on Xbox One via backward compatibility, so there's no reason for Xbox One gamers to be bored while they're waiting for Santa to come barreling down the chimney.
If you're getting an Xbox One for Christmas and already have an Xbox Live Gold account that you use on your Xbox 360, don't forget that you can head over to Xbox.com and claim any of the existing Xbox One Games With Gold. Do that, and you'll be able to download and play them when your new console arrives!

Chuffed about Dragon Rising - never did finish the campaign on that. No idea about Van Helsino but will give it a go for sure
Van Helsing looks like Diablo 3 in its game-play and structure but obviously the setting is different. Never played Thief either so will probably download both of these.
Don't know if I will bother with the 360 titles even though I can play them on the XB1.
Thief was....bad. Really bad.
@A_BabyRed_Yoshi I heard it was average at best and therefore didn't buy it. For free though, I am willing to give it a try - from my perspective its a lot better than the majority of GWG XB1 offerings. I would rather play this than Halo: Spartan Assault, Guacamelee, Castlestorm, Child of Light etc etc
Yeah baby Thief on XOne
I just love this game since that i play the PC versions years ago.
From X360 Sacred is a fantastic game.
Thief was pretty so-so. Far from good, but definitely not bad. Been wanting to try Van Helsing, so I'm overall happy with the month.
I know Thief hasn't been the most successful game, but I was always interested in playing it. Good to hear that it will be free next month!
@Utena-mobile
Finally! Someone as OCD as me. I am ridiculously picky with what games are in my profile.
I may give Castlestorm a try though.
At this point I'm just paying for PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live so I can play online with friends and from time to time there are some very good sales but the 'free' games have been bad for a while now. Not complaining as I know smart companies are not going to just give away their best games but still.
@Gamer83
I am the same way at this point. I had PS Plus for awhile & the free games went from awesome to horrid after the PS4 came out.
I have had decent luck with Games With Gold though. There isn't something I want every month, but I usually get something every few months. I mostly just pay for it to play on Xbox Live or get the Deals With Gold.
I didn't really like the Thief demo, but I'll definitely give it another go since it's free. Also interested in Operation Flashpoint. I don't know much about it, but I can't say no to a shooter.
I have no idea why there's so much hate for Thief. No idea it's decent and even fun at times.
Do X360 Castlestorm achievements stack with the XB1 version?
Why no, I'm not an achievement ho!
I thought Thief was quite good. Will definitely look at VanHelsing.
@Utena-mobile I really wish they'd just allow us to delete achievements. It's pretty damn annoying that you can't.
@Rezalack +1 to that! Even if we cannot delete them, hide the doozies from the stats. I've got a few games that 'scar' my list, that I would really like to go away.
