Microsoft announced that your Xbox One console will be able to play your Xbox 360 games, earlier in the week, with the service being limited to those who are in the Xbox Preview Program for the time being. The full service will launch towards Christmas.
There is a way, however, that non-Preview Program members can get access to the good stuff if they own one of the initial list of backwards-compatible games. If one of your friends has played the game on their Xbox One, you can open up the Popular With Friends area of the Xbox One dashboard, scroll down to the game that you want to play, and click "View In Store."
If the game is tied to your account (ie. you own it on Xbox 360) then you'll see the option to download it and play. If not, you'll see the "Bundle Only" option in its place.
We've tested this out with Hexic HD (read this if you want to play that specific game) and can confirm that it works.
And if you don't know what all this backwards compatibility malarkey is all about, check out the announcement from Microsoft's E3 conference.

Hah thats actually pretty cool
Wish I could figure out a way to get into the preview program! Replaying Mass Effect and would love to not have to switch consoles all the time....
This is a great thing to me. Sure feck all people will use it but I hope they keep updating the list of games to come over the years
