Red Dead Redemption 2 (Xbox One)

The sequel to Xbox 360 hit Red Dead Redemption was the first (new) Rockstar Games title to be released since 2013's Grand Theft Auto V. Expectations were high, and the company didn't disappoint, delivering a memorable and visually stunning prequel centred around outlaw Arthur Morgan. Everything in Red Dead Redemption 2 is bigger, better and packed with far more depth than the first game, while the popular Red Dead Online offers a completely separate story and various player vs. player modes to get involved with.

Resident Evil 2 (Xbox One)

When Capcom released the remake of Resident Evil 2 back in 2019, they turned a 21-year-old game into a modern day masterpiece. The visual upgrade is significant, doing away with the fixed camera angles of the original and vastly enhancing the game's cutscenes. Gone are the tank controls — in their place a smartly-designed over-the-shoulder perspective. This is an amazing example of survival horror at its very best on Xbox One.

Rocket League (Xbox One)

Few people expected Rocket League to be a hit when it launched on PS4 and PC back in 2015. By the time it reached the Xbox One, it was a worldwide phenomenon. The vehicular soccer game has since added a barrage of new features including modes, licensed vehicles and a Rocket Pass content system, while cross-platform support with PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC is also available. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a floundering rookie, there's something to suit everyone in Rocket League.

Sea Of Thieves (Xbox One)

Rare's Sea of Thieves was highly-anticipated at launch, bit hit choppy waters early on due to a perceived lack of content. It's come a long way in the past few years, adding copious amounts of updates including narrative-driven Tall Tales, new regions to explore and a multiplayer Arena mode. The basic idea remains — take to the seas for adventures with your crew (while destroying others) — but there are far more activities to get involved with these days.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Xbox One)

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt burst onto the scene back in May 2015, and proved an instant hit with critics and fans. The RPG, which focuses on protagonist Geralt and his quest to find adopted daughter Ciri, has since received countless awards for its gameplay, storytelling and more, boasting satisfying swordplay and massive variety throughout its stunning open world. If you haven't played the first two Witcher games, don't worry — this is a great place to start.
