Wargaming Minsk’s massively multiplayer online tank-busting behemoth has been around since 2010 and, once you dip your toes in for a little taste of the vehicular combat here, it’s easy to see why.

World of Tanks' free-to-play action is engrossing, surprisingly strategic stuff that keeps the playing field level - whether you’ve splashed out for fancy tanks or are rolling with the free ones - by virtue of the fact it requires skill and dedication to come out on top.

There are endless hours of tense and explosive action to be had for absolutely zero cost here, hundreds of painstakingly detailed tanks from across several eras of combat, a fun progression system, deep skill trees with lots neat upgrades and unlocks - and it all looks and plays really nicely on Xbox to boot.

If you’re down for some proper combat simulator action, prepared to get blown to bits repeatedly as you learn the ropes and enjoy digging into an entire world’s worth of historically accurate tanks, World of Tanks is a super solid game with hours of free-play fun to get stuck into.
