So now that the wondering and excitement are over for the next generation Xbox what are your thoughts on it?  What are your hopes for it and expectations?  What did you think of the announcement?  Discuss it all right here.

Me I think its great.  Now before you start flaming me or saying or but compared to this and that it sucks and where are that games, just here me out.

First off I love how alot of people are raging about how the announcement didn't mention games and how long into the presentation it took MS to finally talk about a few games.  I have read on other sites how oh MS is going to lose the console wars this gen mark my words.

Well did it ever occur that maybe this isn't a video game console?  Yeah it could play games but with the name Xbox One and even how they presented it they presented as more of a media center than an actual video game console, maybe thats there strategy.  It makes sense in this day and age.  People want cell phones now that they can email on, surf the web, watch Netflix and heck even play handheld quality games.  So why is it bad if MS wants to bring something like that into the living room?

What I really love is how the people that are raging about this the most are the same people that say that iPhones and Driod Phones should be considered handheld game systems yet they can't except Xbox One as a game system.  How Ironic.

In the end I think this is a brilliant move by Microsoft and I think they will do just fine this gen.  Who knows I could be wrong and it could bomb but honestly I think this will appeal to alot of people.

So what are your thoughts?  I am happy to hear them.

Probably going to type something longer after watching the conference again but I liked it alot. Probably will be upgrading this fall depending on the Launch line up. A little confused about the always online and used games stuff but it doesn't matter.

I wouldn't mid paying a $10 fee for grabbing a used game but I wouldn't never want to pay the full price for the title. The it has to be online at least one a day seems like miscommunication and for my set up isn't that big of a deal.

Guess we should update the OP with a list of games.

I think I'll pick it up as depending on the price, and the exclusives of course. The conference only showed hardware, but isn't that what they said they'd do?

Yep which is why its funny seeing alot of gamers and Games Journo's get up in arms when they said multiple times before and during the Reveal that this was their plan.

Like I said mainstream media seems to be pretty positive on it. Im not to happy about the not letting indies self publish but they barley talked AAA devs so i'll give them time.

This thread is the reason why I dislike brand loyalty. What this topic needs is a Devil's Advocate. Well that's what I'm here for. Let's begin...

Well did it ever occur that maybe this isn't a video game console?

Well of course! Gamers only want games! People have expensive cable packages already. How many people will actually fully utilize the television feature? Very few.

It makes sense in this day and age.  People want cell phones now that they can email on, surf the web, watch Netflix and heck even play handheld quality games.  So why is it bad if MS wants to bring something like that into the living room?

You answered your own question. Because they have cell phones.

What I really love is how the people that are raging about this the most are the same people that say that iPhones and Driod Phones should be considered handheld game systems yet they can't except Xbox One as a game system.  How Ironic.

Wow. Very extreme generalization. -_-

I wouldn't mid paying a $10 fee for grabbing a used game but I wouldn't never want to pay the full price for the title. The it has to be online at least one a day seems like miscommunication and for my set up isn't that big of a deal.

You can't only think about yourself. People travel, lose internet, miss a payment etc. Things happen. This can be and is a turnoff to so many people. One person saying "fine with me" will not guarantee the success of the system. Also, VP of Mircosoft came out and said it will require at least a connection once every 24 hours. Until it gets retracted or something, this is fact.

Also, I can't even lend a friend a game, or rent, or say go to GameStop and buy a used game without having to pay a fee?

And how can you guys be surprised at the backlash? All these rumors were exactly what the internet did not want, and some actually came true. Just terrible. And it doesn't even exactly help with this poll and stock drops.

Only thing positive that came out of this conference was the announcement of 8 new franchises. But those were no where to be seen. They certainly have the chance to rock E3 with software. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt there.

If you want people to get eexcited for a system, you need to show games. It's that easy.

Dude, you probably can't even play games on a second account on the same system. They said it was tied to only one account, last I checked...

Well again i'm talking personal use cases. I have no problem with a fee if it was reasonable (it isn't so screw that noise) and my internet only had problems once this year and it was resolved by unplugging  and replugging the router unit.

Both policies look to be crappy and will hinder the system from selling.

@IAmNotWill:  Lol ok I will play along

1. Actually with cable prices being what they are nowadays alot of people are cutting cable in favor of services like Hulu and Netflix, which the Xbox One will be able to stream.  So with that said they will be able to stream their favorite shows and watch them on the nice big 60 inch plasma screens rather than a computer monitor.

2.  Again yes they have a smartphone but whynot have all that on a bigger screen and one that doesnt need to be charged every few hours.  Honestly I would rather have a set up like that in the living room where I can be more comfortable.

3.  Yeah I was being general cause alot of forums that I was reading yesterday (including Nintendo Life) alot of the people were saying oh this is going to kill MS and well they are going to be last this gen, while those same people argue that in a few years Smartphones will replace handheld systems like 3DS and Vita.

So again why is it ok for a Smartphone to be successful but not Xbox One?  I just dont understand that.

In the end I will say I am not a MS fanboy nor am I loyal to the Xbox Brand.  I am just saying that people are making to big of deal with this and not looking at the bigger picture.  I don't think this will hurt MS I think people are just surprised at it and didn't expect MS to go in this direction.  Of course maybe they did I don't know I don't read to many tech magazines or what not.
