I used to love the NHL 2K series on Dreamcast, then I felt it lost its luster. However, competition is a good thing and if 2K can deliver a decent game of hockey next year I'd be all for it. Maybe it would make EA take its next X1/PS4 hockey game a little more seriously as well.

@Gamer83, my thoughts exactly. this game is proof that Take two now has a NHL license so we can all assume a new NHL 2K game on consoles next year. i would love to see competition for EA as NHL 15 wasn't that good.

I have a feeling the renewed licence is for mobile platforms only, but I'd love it if they actually gave EA some competition next year on Xbox One!

@SuperKMx, I'm really hoping your wrong about it only being a mobile license. its best for competition if TAKE 2 came back into Hockey. Last year they got the WWE license, so you never know.

@Emanouel:  Can't really compare the WWE Licensing to NHL since really there isn't a way for EA to get a competitor to a WWE game  unless they sign a deal with TNA and that's not saying much.

Still any sports licensing that 2K can get to compete with EA is always great news.

True, true. I don't think 2K will be letting go of that WWE licence anytime soon, either! It's like printing money.

Hate to say it, but I've looked into it and it's definitely mobile-only as far as I can tell. Really sucks. I would have LOVED to have seen competition in hockey gaming next year. Would have made EA work even harder than they'll have to in order to fix the bad feeling caused by the NHL 15 nonsense.

@SuperKMx, as off this year NHL2K is mobile only for this year. Im assuming they got the license last minute just enough time to release a simple Mobile version. They are probably working on next gen (XB1 and PS4) versions as we speak Fingers crossed.

EA should have sold NHL 15 for 29.99 instead of 59.99. I'm waiting for next years game or if NHL 2K16 is released.

So I heard that EA's rights to the NFL license runs out next year I think if I heard right.  Here's hoping that 2K games can get the NFL license then.

@Tasuki, i thought EA renewed NFL license.  (http://www.pastapadre.com/2014/01/28/ea … more-years)

with 2K last year picking up the WWE License and labelling it WWE 2K14, it could signal that they want to up the ante with there sporting licenses.

and now that the have a NHL license again anything can happen. maybe they will get a CFL license and create a CFL football game too.

@Emanouel:  Well, (sorry if this comes out rude I am not trying to make is sound rude) if you read that article it said that the deal will last through Madden 25 and one more after that which I assume is Madden 15.  I am not sure if they extended it beyond that but I as I am sure main people would love the NFL to say screw you to EA and sign a deal with 2K.

I honestly don't see how having just EA have an exclusively on the NFL license can be a good thing. I mean wouldn't it be a smarter choice to have multiple NFL license games out there which in the end would net the NFL more money?

Also 2K at one point was a big competitor to EA sports games.  They had at one time baseball, football and hockey games not to mention they still have the NBA 2K series.

@Tasuki,

maybe thats the wrong link. lol i read it a few days ago that EA has the nil exclusive for either another 3-4 years. i can't find the url at the moment.

Its not a good thing to have a monopoly on a sporting brand, the NFL got too greedy and thats why EA now has it. Honestly they should have never allowed it. More options = better sports games.

according to a gamespot article (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/with-nba-2k14s-huge-success-why-doesnt-2k-make-mor/1100-6421599/

here is a quick quote "Given the success of NBA 2K14, why is that 2K Sports has limited itself to the degree it has? That was the question raised during a Take-Two investors call earlier this week, which CEO Strauss Zelnick answered by saying the company is "trying to grow the business." However, he noted it's "doing so selectively."

so there can still be hope for hockey considering how bad NHL 15 is doing with sales and reviews

@Emanouel:  No worries man, and I agree with ya that more options = better sports games, of course EA knows that too but they don't care as evident by NBA Live last year hence why they made the deal with the NFL, so that way the pure football fans would have no choice but to play a mediocre game like Madden.

@Tasuki, well the NFL should not of been so greedy to begin with.  Don't be surprised to see more sports games coming this generation. Take 2 has more $$ now and I'm sure they can fully afford to get more sporting licenses.

I haven't played NBA 2K or the Live series , but i know not too many people are happy with live on next gen. maybe they will get it right with NBA Live 15. I also got a feeling EA got back the MLB license too as now there is no other baseball game on consoles others then sonys the show.

@Emanouel:  I agree and yeah I am sure with that WWE licensing now that is bringing in more money for them as well.

I played both Live and NBA 2K14 on the PS4 and yeah Live was just garbage compared to 2K.  Honestly the graphics and that looked like it should have been a PS2 game.  Where 2K oh man, when a friend of mine came over one time and I was playing 2K he thought I was watching a game on the tv lol.  I honestly don't see me going back to a Live game again.

As for baseball yeah there is not much baseball game love except for The Show which is a Sony exclusive so unless you have a PS4 or Vita  you are out of luck.  What I really want is a good arcade type baseball game like Ken Griffey Jr on the SNES lol.  Just something that I can pick up and play with some friends.

@Tasuki,

Im glad they are sticking to one WWE game. in the ps2 / xbox / gamecube era there were 3 different wrestling games released. one always better then the two. which kinda sucked, but now I'm happy they are focusing only on one.

I did see some people playing 2K basketball and it looked life like. I will try out live when it becomes part of EA access. Im sure EA's NBA JAM is better then LIVE.

I had a ps4 and ps vita and sold them both, so I'm hoping ea would come out with a Baseball game this 2015 spring. Its a shame midway closed as they had the best arcade sports games. I'm not sure who knows there arcade IPS other then EA who purchased NBA JAM.

Which games do you play on XBOX One? i always see you posting about games your playing on the PS4.

have you gotten sunset overdrive? if so how are you enjoying it??
