So yeah. 343 caved in to the critics and released a statement delaying Halo until next year. A fierce blow to the Series X/S launch indeed

It’s a great decision, just release it with Series X optimisations with Ray Tracing. I really hoped for the second time a Xbox launches with Halo but heavyweight titles like Cyberpunk and AC Valhalla will keep us busy destroying the competition in Digitalfoundry reviews with ultra performance of Series X like always. It’s actually better for Halo if it releases in a clean time period without other heavyweight titles around to cut some attention.

Better to be delayed than launch unfinished game.

What were the critics saying that made them decide to delay the game? I mean, I figured they might delay it anyways because of coronavirus etc.
Was it the graphics that everyone was complaining about?

Personally, I'm a little bummed out, but it does give me time to save up longer for a Series X, and the Medium is coming out later this year, so I'm not too worried.

It's a shame, but it's better to delay a game than to rush it. Given the fact that the next gen patch wouldn't even be ready until next year, this is probably for the best.

I think that it's a good thing for the game, but it does put Series X in a weird position where it doesn't have any MS launch titles (I think). IMO they should've planned ahead for this and have at least one more launch title for Series X. You can't predict coronavirus or whatever the cause of the delay is, but it's risky putting all your bets on one single launch game.

Unless you do it the Nintendo way and hold a game back for launch. Like they did with Breath of the Wild on the Switch, or Twilight Princess on the Wii. I guess Switch also had 1-2-Switch, but that game is really not worth mentioning.

I think this is great tbh. Yeah, the Series X day one launch will be a fair bit weaker but if it means they can make the game better then it's absolutely necessary.

The gameplay at the latest showcase did not looked concerning and that feedback was rightly given by people watching it.

Xbox's stance on not massively hyping up the Series X as the be and end all softens the would-be blow as well.

@ThePrettySenshi yes. The graphics were the main critic from the game. And also some people saying that it didn't feel "like a Halo game"

@graysoncharles It felt more like a Halo game than Halo 4, 5 ever did...narrow minded haters gonna still hate for small stuff like grappling hook and sprint.

It doesn't bother me. I will at some point play Halo but it wasn't a system seller for me. In my honest opinion though I like it when a developer delays a game rather then release a broken subpar game on time.

I must be the only one but didn't think the game looked that bad. Also the sound, combat was pure HALO.
